    Kotor Weather for July 2019

What's the weather like in Kotor in July

It's a midsummer's night's dream here in Kotor during the month of July.

    Temperature

The average temperature soars to a beautiful 26°C (79°F), with nights crisp and breezy at a comfortable 18°C (64°F). The hotter days are expected to reach a glorious 31°C (88°F), making the weather perfect for a holiday in Montenegro.

    Humidity

The humidity is at its lowest at 47% on average, keeping the air dry and a positive dew point which makes mornings by the shore an absolutely enchanting experience.

    Sunshine Hours

The days are long as well, experiencing up to 10 hours of uninterrupted sunshine and clear blue skies. Wind speeds are high though, at an average of 74kmh, and most of them southern currents sneaking into the bay all the way from the other side of the Adriatic Sea.

    Rainfall

Chances of rain are ridiculously low, making July one of the driest months of the year with just 24mm of rainfall expected over a cumulated 5 days. This easily translates into an abundance of clear skies, sunshine galore and just an occasional shower every other week. Given that this is still a coastal resort on the Kotor Riviera, the whims of the bay area climate can still be felt – but nothing to even worry about, so enjoy the bathing suits and short sleeves, now's the perfect time to don these garments.

    Sea Temperature

The sea temperature is a wonderful 24°C (76°F), easily warmed up by the low depth provided by Kotor's natural topography. Sub-tropical undercurrents sneak into the bay during this time of the year, making the waters not only crystalline, but also splendid for all kinds of marine activities, from swimming to deep diving and snorkelling. Be careful with your skin though, and don't disregard the SPF lotions, as the sun may be deceiving despite the moderately high temperatures.

    Kotor Hotels in July

One of the most coveted venues in all of Kotor Bay is Hotel Forza Mare, a 5-star boutique hotel beaming with stylish and luxurious décor and themed suites. The rooms themselves take you on a journey around the world, from Africa to India, from Dubai all the way to Japan and China, and feature plush lounge sofas, a private bathroom, air conditioning and a flat screen TV. There's also a lush spa and wellness centre available on-site, along with a lovely swimming pool and a superb a la carte restaurant specialising in Mediterranean and International cuisine.

Boutique Hotel Hippocampus is another excellent choice if you're looking to spend your summer holiday in Kotor. Situated in the heart of the Old Town, this hotel is part of a 17th century palazzo, a mere walking distance from Saint Anna and Saint Nicolas Churches. Its stunning rooms feature modern décor, a flat screen TV, a private bathroom and air conditioning. The on-site restaurant opens up to a roof terrace overlooking the stone walls of San Giovanni.

A wonderful 4-star accommodation option is the fancy Boutique Hotel Astoria. The building itself is a UNESCO Heritage 13th century Buca palace, and each room is individually designed with luxurious materials and high end finishes, combining old stone with contemporary fabrics and wood. Each unit features air conditioning, a flat screen TV, comfy lounge area and superb marble bathroom. The hotel's lounge bar and fine dining restaurant offers both traditional and modern Montenegrin cuisine.

    Kotor Beaches for July

Although Kotor isn't home to sandy beaches that are often preferred by most tourists, it does offer a small number of wonderful and equally relaxing pebbled strips along the blue waters. One excellent location for reaching the absolute zen is Marko's Cape, renowned for its medicinal tourism and rehabilitation purposes. It stretches along the bay shore for about a kilometre, and it gives you incredible views of the surrounding laurel forests, a backdrop of natural shade that perfectly complements the shallow waters and rocky skyline of the towering cliffs. Most importantly, whichever way you go for the purpose of sunbathing, don't forget the sun lotion, as overexposure will affect your skin even in these parts of Europe. Enjoy the breeze and the terraces sprinkled along the neighbouring alleyways as well, as this is one of the quieter parts of town.

Things to do in Kotor in July

With the water so perfect and the skies so blue, you must certainly go on a Blue Cave Kayak and Snorkelling Adventure, in one of Kotor Bay's most beautiful and fascinating locations. You'll get to spend hours swimming, snorkelling and even engaging in some underwater photography in one of the best spots of the Riviera. This little geological gem can only be reached by boat or kayak, so expect your adventure to start early, as the professional guide will first take you on a mini bus tour with panoramic views of Lustica Peninsula, then take you across the waters all the way to the Blue Cave. Snorkelling and swimming instructions complete, you will then be able to explore the crystalline waters and even admire some of the endemic marine creatures populating the coastline. This little spot is particularly known for the way in which the water's colour changes under the influence of light, going from turquoise blue in the morning to deep dark blue at noon, and then softening back to a sapphire nuance as the sun sets.

Another excellent way to spend one of the best months of the year in Kotor is by taking the popular Private Yacht Swimming Tour from Kotor – this is the best way to spoil yourself. You can even opt to have a luxurious Mercedes pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. The tour starts from the marina, where you'll get aboard a sumptuous yacht which will then sail to one of the best swimming spots in the middle of Kotor's Bay, where the waters are perfectly clear and warm. You'll get plenty of time to swim around and soak in some sun on the deck, with a 360° view of nothing but blue waters and unending skies. However, do note that no alcohol is allowed during the tour, but the staff will keep you well stocked on refreshing soft drinks, fresh fruit and healthy snacks throughout your session.
