Kos Weather September Averages, Greece
September is the last month of the warm season as the temperature falls as the month progresses. To go along with the drop in temperature rainfall and cloud coverage rise steeply throughout the month making September a neutral month between warm and cold. The average temperature in September is 23 C (73 F) which is a small drop from the previous months. The warm season officially ends on around the 14th so the first half of the month is still a part of peak season.
The highs and lows at the beginning of September are 28.8 C (84 F) and 21.6 C (71 F) as the temperature continues its steady fall from August and commences a steep decline in September. Rainfall begins at 5 % probability coming off its gradual increase in August and beginning its steep climb in September. As the rain rises so does the cloud coverage which begins the month at 32 %( mostly clear) and starts on a steep climb upwards into December.
By mid month on around the 14th the highs drop to 27.2 C (81 F) and by the 20th to below 26.6 C (80 F) triggering the end of the warm season. The lows follow suit hitting 20.5 C (69 F) throughout the same time. Probability of rainfall finally rises above 10 % around mid September as this is the first time since May. Cloud coverage hits the 35 % (mostly clear) coverage mark during mid month and continues its pattern of rising.
As we reach the end of September highs on average are around 25.5 C (78 F) while lows have fallen to 18.8 C (66 F) making this the coolest part of the month and a great time to visit if you are looking for a nice balance between hot and cold. Probability of rainfall climbs daily from mid to end month coming in at around 14 % to usher in October. Along with the increase in rainfall, skies become cloudier with cloud coverage at around 38 % (mostly clear) to end the month.
The average amount of rainfall in the month of September is 17 mm divided into 3 days. This is a significant rise from the warm season but barely enough rainfall to be a factor in affecting your holiday negatively. If it does manage to rain types of rain during this month include light, moderate, and thunderstorms with more chances of light or moderate rain. As long as the rainfall is minimal the beaches are great attractions in Kos and more so in September with an average sea temperature of 25 C (77 F).
As the cloud coverage climbs steeply in September the average hours of sunshine fall to 11 hours which is a 2 hour drop from the previous month. This is the last month with double digit hours of sun so be sure to take advantage of Kos around this time as from here on out it just gets colder, cloudier, and wetter.
