June Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the weather like in Koh Tao in June

Koh Tao is a popular tourist destination located in the Gulf of Thailand, just 40 kilometres from the mainland. It is one of the smallest of the Thai islands but is growing in popularity over recent years thanks to its relaxed pace and world-famous diving scene.

Like the rest of Thailand, Koh Tao has a sub-tropical climate with sunshine, high temperatures and some rainfall. Monsoon winds dictate the weather throughout the year and create three seasons; the dry season, the hot season and the wet season.

Temperature

June is right in the middle of the hot season in Koh Tao. While there isn't much variation in temperature over the year in Koh Tao, it is slightly hotter than the dry season. The average temperature is around 28°C with highs that can reach 31°C during the hottest part of the day. Even with sea breezes, night time temperatures remain high, at 24°C. These high temperatures will continue into July and August.

Rain

The addition of rainfall also makes the weather feel very humid at this time of year. Koh Tao's hot season sees fairly consistent levels of rainfall, though the amount of rain does decrease slightly from May to June. There's an average of 118mm of precipitation which generally falls over 16 wet days. This means that there's a 33% chance of a rainy day.

Sunshine Hours

With rainfall comes an increase in cloud cover in Koh Tao and there's a 50% chance of a cloudy day on the island. However, this still leaves plenty of time to enjoy Koh Tao's stunning beaches and soak up the sunshine in June. The month sees an average of 6 hours of sunshine a day.

Sea Temperature

Average sea temperatures remain high throughout the whole year in Koh Tao, which is one of the reasons it's such a popular diving destination. In June, the sea is a beautifully warm 30°C.
