    Temperature

Enjoying warm temperatures is what Ko LipeThailand is all about. Visiting in March, you can expect some of the highest daily temperatures of the year—they range around 29°C, a daily average temperature that's also observed in February and April. Daytime high temperatures rise up to a sweltering 34°C, the annual maximum, while nighttime lows range around 23°C, making it very comfortable to spend time outside in the evenings.

Both temperatures, however, decrease a tiny bit in the course of the month, by about one degree. Approximately 62% of March days are considered to be warm; 38% are classified as hot. March is without question one of the hottest months of the year in Ko Lipe. The sea temperature averages a warm and bath-like 29°C, a temperature that's virtually constant all-year round.

    Rain

The total amount of rainfall for this month is 91mm, making it the third-driest month of the year after January and February, so you can definitely enjoy outdoor activities to their fullest. Precipitation is least likely to occur in the beginning of the month and most likely at the end—the chance of rainfall increases from 38% to 63% throughout March. By far the most common type of rainfall is thunderstorms.

They occur on no less than 73% of the days with rainfall. Light rain falls on 18% of rainy days and moderate rain on only 8% of days with rainfall. March is definitely still within the dry season, but the significant increase in probability of rainfall shows that the wet season is approaching.

    Clouds

Cloud cover stays around 90% throughout the entire month, a percentage that doesn't vary greatly in the course of the year. With 9 hours of sunshine per day, March is one of the sunniest months of the year though. April, May and June have the same amount of sunshine hours—the annual high.

    Sunshine Hours

Due to a tropical location close to the equator, the length of the days doesn't vary a whole lot throughout the year and March is a month that reflects that. March 1 is the shortest day of the month with 11.59 hours of daylight. March 31 is the longest day and has 12.10 daylight hours.

Hanging out on Sunset Beach for a day (or several!) is an absolute must. Sunset Beach, known as Hat Pramong among locals, offers great snorkelling, plus it's a perfect launch pad for a kayak to tour around the island. The beach is only about half a kilometre long and is located on the north side of Ko Lipe, but faces west toward the sunset. Its name is appropriate—there is a spectacular sunset almost every night. This is a rather quiet and laid-back area, an area that still radiates happiness, peace of mind and the charm of the atmosphere as it was before the big resorts arrived. Restaurant and beach bars built from driftwood add to the relaxed atmosphere.

    Chado Cliff and Pirate Falls
