What's the Weather Like in Kalkan in November

Sunshine

Summer has now finished, and the month of November is generally classed as autumn in Kalkan. The main difference between this month and the previous summer months is quite noticeable for those visiting at this time, especially towards the middle and end of the month overall, with a difference in temperatures. Whilst the sun still shines in abundance, at around an average of 9 hours per day, there is much more chance of rain, lower temperatures, and cloud than you will have experienced over the previous few months. This is a welcome change for residents who have had seven months of wall-to-wall sun!

Temperature

The month's overall averages day time temperature is around 13°C, with a high of 18°C on the better days, and an average low of a chilly 7°C during the evenings a jacket will be the only difference.

Rainfall

Another difference now the season has changed is there is more chance of rain now, although certainly not torrential, and rainfall stands at around 91mm throughout the month, affecting up to 8 days on average. This will increase largely in the following winter months, with a big jump in December.

Sea Temperature

Those wanting to experience the beach and head into the waters for a spot of swimming can still do just that, as the average water temperature is a mild 21°C, kept warm from the summer months which have just passed; beach days on a bright day in autumn are still very possible indeed.

Other than this however, getting out and exploring the beauty of the resort and the surrounding area is a must do at this time of year, and very easy thanks to a reliable and cheap bus network around the region. Most tourist attractions and restaurants have closed for the season now, however there are still several open for those visiting at this time, and for residents; this is a great time to experience true Turkish life.

Hotels in Kalkan in November

November may mean slightly more unpredictable weather than the previous months, but it is still a good time to visit Kalkan. There are many hotels and apartments still open for business at this time, and they are likely to be quiet, so less in the way of noise.

Pasha Apart Hotel

Pasha Apart Hotel is very centrally based, around 600m from the marina, and offers brightly decorated apartments with fully equipped kitchens, and an on-site grocery store for those all-important shopping needs.

Sevgi Hotel

Sevgi Hotel is a great choice for a family run, quiet option, and is only a very short walk from the centre of town. The rooftop terrace has a children's pool, for those warmer autumn days, and breakfast is also served there, with great views of the area. Alternatively, Neruda Pension also has a scenic rooftop terrace, with fantastic views of the sea, and located only 200m from the large bazaar.

Bars and Restaurants

Akin Restaurant

November may be a quieter month, but there are still several restaurants and cafes open in Kalkan, at least into the second week. Akin Restaurant is a good choice, with very friendly staff. This is a good place to head if you're travelling as a family, as the menu will suit everyone, and the staff will make your little ones very welcome. Alternatively, check out The Lime, where there is rumoured to be the best baklava in town it has to be tried!

Alternatif Restaurant

The Alternatif Restaurant may be a little touristier than some of the other restaurants in the resort, however it is a good change of pace. The cocktail menu is large, and the food portions are equally as huge. Good value for money too.

Things to Do in Kalkan in November

November means a quiet and chilled out time in Kalkan, which although means not as many attractions are open, you will experience much more of the traditional. The archaeological sites around Kalkan should be explored to the max, and the quieter times, as well as the lower temperatures, means this is the ideal month to do just that.

Letoon

Letoon is a UNESCO World Heritage listed site, and was the sacred cult centre of Lycia. There are three temples here to explore, which seem to rise out of the water, and they are dedicated to Lycia, and her children, Artemis and Apollo. There is a lot of nature around this area too, so it is a great choice for photographers and walkers. You can check out the byzantine basilica and the huge amphitheatre to get you started, and Letoon is only a very short drive by car from Kalkan itself.

Ege Rentals

If you want to get out into nature now you can roam more freely, then mountain biking is made for the resort. The mountain terrain just outside of the town itself means you can easily head out and explore, and there are plentiful places to hire equipment from, such as Ege Rentals, where you will find well-maintained bikes for low prices.

Tandem Paragliding

You may want to get your feet off the ground for a while and in that case, why not grab a friend and head off tandem paragliding? Kas is the best place to do this, with stunning views, and experiencing this with a friend will be something special indeed. You simply need to head to Kas harbour or discuss with a tour operator in Kalkan itself, to book onto this very popular activity.
