July Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the Weather like in Kalkan in July

July in Kalkan can be summed up with one repeated word - hot, hot, hot!

Sunshine

Summer is now firmly in place and the crowds are beginning to flock to this sun-drenched resort, with fantastic weather. The first month of the peak season of summer is the year's hottest month in the resort, as well as being the month with the most sunshine hours too a massive 14 per day indicating sun is a given now, and there is almost zero chance of a cloudy day.

Temperature

The average temperature at this time of year is a wonderful 25°C, however it is likely to be much higher than that in reality, and can reach an average high of a very hot 32°C. Humidity is thankfully kept at bay, due to an almost constant Mediterranean sea breeze, which goes a long way to cooling down those long beach days. Sunburn is a problem during this time of year, so pay heed to sun safety.

If you want a comfortable night's sleep, you will be best advised to accept the offer of air conditioning in your hotel, as the average evening low only dips to a still very warm 18°C, and after experiencing an average of 14 hours of sunshine per day, you will be wanting a cool down during the dark hours! The days during the peak of summer seem to go on forever, and the sun doesn't set completely until very late in the evening, often around 9 or 10pm.

Rainfall

Rain is extremely unlikely during this time of year, and the average for the month is only 7mm overall, which affects 3 days over the month to a very tiny degree you literally will not notice any rain in the slightest.

Sea Temperature

Taking to the beach is the best way to beat the heat, with an average sea temperature of 26°C perfect for a cooling swim.

Hotels in Kalkan in July

Likya Residence Hotel & Spa

If you're looking for somewhere to stay which isn't going to be noisy, and isn't going to be overrun with children and family entertainment, then Likya Residence Hotel & Spa is for you. This is an adults-only hotel, and is idyllic and luxurious by nature. It is close to everything you could want, and also features a full service spa, large on-site restaurant, or you could spoil yourself with a spot of room service.

Lizo Hotel

Alternatively, Lizo Hotel is a good choice for those with older children, as it isn't recommended for children under 14. This is a family run hotel which is very authentic in nature, serving traditional Turkish cuisine daily, and a fantastic view from the roof top terrace restaurant as you enjoy your evening meal.

Hotel Pataros

Hotel Pataros however is suitable for everyone, and is a stone's throw from the beach and resort centre. The swimming pool has a swim up bar to order your drinks as the July temperatures soar, and you can sit and take in the view from the quaint hotel gardens.

Hit the beach

Patara Beach

The warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea at this time of the peak summer season, averaging a wonderfully warm 26°C, means beaches are always going to be busy. Despite that, Patara Beach is a must visit.

Nestled in a national park, this is a beautiful beach, backed by huge sand dunes. It feels quite cut off, with only a small shop selling snacks and cold drinks, but this is a nice change from the busy nature in the resort at this time. You can reach the beach by the local dolmus service quite easily, however after sunset the beach closes, as it is a breeding ground for the endangered loggerhead turtle.

Bars and Restaurants

The great thing about Kalkan's many eateries is that they all have a view and none of them are loud or really of the fun-pub vibe, as many of Turkey's holiday resorts tend to be. Instead, you will find quieter and more sophisticated evenings, which are perfect for soaking up July's wonderfully warm evenings.

Sade Restaurant

Sade Restaurant has one of the best views of the sunset you will find, with a quiet and relaxed ambiance to enjoy. The steaks are particularly good here. If steak is what you're looking for, then another choice is Wapiano Restaurant. The meat here is served on a hot marble slab, so it continues to cook. The service is famed here, and offers something a little different, situated right on the water-front, with stunning views and panorama.

Marina Restaurant

Marina Restaurant is another good place to head, somewhere a little quieter and under the radar, even quite old-school, but the seafood is deliciously fresh, and many visitors return time and time again, which is always a mark of quality.

Things to Do in Kalkan in July

River tubing

The hottest month of the year in Kalkan requires activities that will help you cool down, and when you visit the resort in July, you can be assured of plenty to see and do. There are many activities which are a little different in nature, basically because the resort is situated so close to stunning natural sites, such as rugged mountain scenery. River tubing is an activity everyone should try at least once, and one which the kids will love. Many tour operators will carry this activity, and it generally takes place at Saklikent River. Armed with a tube and paddle, you head off into shallow waters, which are cooling in the soaring heat. You can choose anything from a 45 minutes' ride, to two hours, and you will certainly laugh a lot!

Aristos Water Sports

Alternatively, water-sports are plentiful at this time of year, and Aristos Water Sports offers a huge range of activities to enjoy, such as jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing, and fun banana boat rides. During this time of year, water-sport outlets will be busy, but it is certainly worth waiting your turn for a fun experience and a summer cool down at the same time.

Baykus

If however you want to stay on dry land, and head inside the air-conditioned sanctuary of a shop or two, then be sure to head to Baykus. This is a shop which sells everything handmade, so anything you buy will be unique and a great souvenir to take home. Check out the handmade ceramics, glass, wooden pieces, and jewellery, as well as those oil lamps you see in all Turkish shops. The bazaar is also a must visit, for a colourful and loud experience. Be ready to haggle for your goods here, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy and you will come away with bargains aplenty.
