Although winter is in full swing during January, the average high temperature is 20°C and the average low temperature is no lower than 14°C in Jandia. both temperature remain constant throughout the month. While a slight chance of rains seems to hamper the start of the new year, there will be a combination of sunny skies and cloudy skies throughout the month. An average daily temperature of 17°C is expected throughout the month. This is, in fact, the lowest average temperature in the yearhe same is observed in Februaryhich indicates the warm nature of the weather in this resort.

January is tied with the previous month of December for the lowest amount of daily sunshine in the year, with the daily average being about 8 hours. This is an incredibly high number of sunshine hours per day, making it a spectacular destination to visit in mid-winter.

While the majority of rain occurs at the start of the month, January doesn't bring much rain to Jandia, with an average 17mm of rainfall, spread out over 5 days with rainfall. This isn't much rainfall at all; it merely happens on very sporadic and short rain showers. January is the fourth wettest month of the year, after February, December and January. The chance of experiencing rainfall is never higher than 16% this month, it even drops to 14% toward the end. This 16%, which is recorded in the beginning of the month, is actually the highest chance of rainfall in the entire year. Jandia is a pretty dry destination, indeed. There are three types of precipitation. Drizzle is the most common one, occurring on 38% of the days with rainfall. Moderate rain and light rain could be seen as well, respectively occurring on 36% and 20% of those rainy days.

In January, the percentage of cloud cover in the resort ranges around 47% and doesn't vary much. This means that the sky is generally partly cloudy, but not overcast more than 15% of the time. You can expect blue skies about 23% of the time.

Jandia is the farthest south-western region of the island Fuerteventura, which is located in the Canary Islands. While the islands are owned by Spain, they are off the northwest African coast.  The sea temperature consistently stays from 18°C to 22°C, with an average of 19°C during January, which is comfortable for swimming and water sports. Because of the warm temperatures, the resort is a prime location for sunbathing, swimming, diving, jet skiing, parasailing and other water and beach related activities. The warm temperatures make Jandia and the Canary Islands an excellent winter vacation destination.

There are several hotels and resorts in Jandia, with Morro Jable, which is the leading resort, remaining the most popular. The resort has a variety of hotels, restaurants, bars, clubs and shops, many with a magnificent view that overlooks the sea.

This complex consists of six apartments, all equipped with a living room with kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom. Located merely 300 meters from the ocean, this is an amazingnd affordablelace to base yourself during your visit to Jandia in January.

The sea temperature averages 19°C this time of year. This is one degree above the annual minimum, but also three degrees below the annual maximum. The temperature of the Atlantic Ocean doesn't vary all that much, in other words, and remains quite comfortable all-year round.

There are miles of beaches throughout the Canary Islands, including Jandia. The beach of the Jandia peninsula runs 21 kilometres from Morro Jable to Costa Calma. The beach is divided into different segments. You can walk from one end to the other in about 5 to 6 hours, but then return by bus. With water temperatures around 19°C, you might want to take a dip in the ocean, even in January!

The Playa de Matorral is where the lighthouse is located and is ideal for families with children. This area has fine sand that is light colored and the sea shallow, clear and clean. There are salt marshes, protected by the government, located between the beach and the road.

Sunbeds and sunshades are available for rent on the beach. There are beach bars located at intervals. Sports offered on the beach include diving, surfing and catamaran. The beach has public restrooms with cubicles and showers.

Jandia has a variety of dining options. Some of the favorite restaurants include La Bodega de Jandia, which offers Spanish cuisine and tapas. You will receive a free tapa with every drink you order. This cosy establishment is a wonderful place to go for a light snack or a couple of drinks.

Another recommended place to eat is Restaurante la Puntilla Casa Menso, which serves authentic Spanish cuisine.

Jandia has many activities of all ages and all interests that can be enjoyed all-year round. Morro Jable has several picturesque and virtually deserted areas within a short drive from the resort. Cofete is a short drive away, but well worth the visit because of its beautiful beaches and scenery. However, the roads are tricky, so any travel should be done via Jeep or some other kind of 4x4. Another place of interest is the Villa Winter.

Just like in Spain, the Cabalgata de Los Reyes Magos, also known as the Epiphany Festival, is held January 5 of each year. People dress up as the Three Kings and hand out sweet treats as they pass through.

There are ample opportunities for sightseeing, surfing, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, swimming, jet skiing, sunbathing, collecting seashells and nature walks or hikes. There are multiple opportunities for shopping throughout Jandia and the Canary Islands as well.
