Temperature

November temperatures in Hong Kong are very pleasant and make this month a great time to visit.  The average monthly temperature is only 22°C, which is cool by Hong Kong standards.  Daytime temperatures average 24°C and nights cool down to a mild 19°C.

Rain

November is one of the driest months of the year with rainfall totals down to 22mm.  On average it rains six days out of the month.  For comparison, January is the driest month of the year with a close 21mm of rain. 

Tropical cyclone season is more or less over, though they have been known to pop up in November every now and then.  Still, it's not something you should have to worry about.

Dress Code

The weather in Hong Kong in November makes packing easy.  You won't need to beat the heat, and you won't be freezing either.  Still, due to variations in weather patterns, check the fourteen-day forecast right before you go to Hong Kong.  You can still wear shorts and sandals for exploring the city and outlying islands, and it's a good idea to bring some comfortable long pants and shoes if it cools down and for night.  If you plan on eating dinner out at Hong Kong's many restaurants, it's a smart idea to bring some nicer pants and a button-down shirt for the men and a dress for the women, with a light jacket or pullover for the cooler evenings.

Yan Toh Heen

If you want the best Cantonese cuisine available in Hong Kong, make sure you dine at Yan Toh Heen in the InterContinental Hotel.   The chefs at Yan Toh Heen have won numerous awards that make their restaurant truly the best Chinese restaurant in the world.  They serve a variety of traditional and contemporary fusion Asian dishes, also accommodating vegans, vegetarians, children, and those with gluten sensitivities.  The menu rotates as well, guaranteeing you get only the freshest, seasonal ingredients.  Yan Toh Heen is open for a great dim sum lunch from noon until 2:30PM Monday thru Saturday and 11:30AM-3PM on Sunday.  Dinner is served from 6PM-11PM daily.  The InterContinental and Yan Toh Heen are located in the Tsim Sha Tsui district.  Reservations are recommended.

Braza Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse

Dining at a Brazilian steakhouse is an experience everyone should have.  While you're in Hong Kong, the place to go is Braza Churrascaria.  Leave the coaster on your table showing the green side, and servers will walk past your table every few minutes with giant skewers of tender meat different cuts of chicken, beef, lamb, etc.  When you're full, flip the coaster to the red side and just sit there enjoying drinks and conversation.  Braza Churrascaria has very decent prices and is located in Central Hong Kong.  They are open for lunch from 12PM to 3PM, and dinner starts at 6PM.

Kowloon Taproom

The Kowloon Taproom is a fun English-style pub in the Tsim Sha Tsui district.  The ambiance is warm and casual, with traditional pub offerings.  The delicious fish and chips are often cited in reviews of the Kowloon Taproom, and other favorites include their saucy wings and great sandwiches.  The Kowloon Taproom features an extensive selection of beer, both local and international, draft and in bottles.  They serve anything you're in the mood for, from the lightest ales to the darkest stouts.    The location is also great for people watching on the street.  The Kowloon Taproom is open daily from 1PM to 2AM.

Scarlett Café and Wine Bar

There's a great wine and cheese bar in the Tsim Sha Tsui district called the Scarlett Café.  This European-style restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and also serves brunch on the weekends.  Their menu is mostly French-inspired, and the pastries are not to be missed.  If you've been wanting to sit in a comfortable, cozy café for some wine and cheese samplings, this is your spot.  They have a very impressive wine selection, excellent fresh cheeses, and wonderful meat plates.  They offer a vegan menu as well.  The Scarlett Café is open Monday thru Friday from 3PM-1AM, and they open on the weekends at 11AM.

Things to do in Hong Kong in November

Sandbox VR

Hong Kong Boological and Botanical Gardens

November is a pleasant month to walk through the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens.  This free park is immaculately maintained and you'll wonder how you got in without paying for it.  It's a great escape from the busy city.  This park isn't a zoo as you would normally think of one; there are animals, but the collection is smaller than what you'd expect and they're spread out throughout the park.  Some of the favorites are the monkeys, flamingos, and scarlet ibises.  The aviary is very popular.  The park is located in Central Hong Kong and is open daily from 6AM-10PM.

Victoria Peak Tram

Some of the best views of Hong Kong are taken in from Victoria Peak Tower.  And a fun way to get to the top is by taking the Victoria Peak Tram, the oldest form of public transportation in Hong Kong.  The funicular was built in the 19th century and today thousands of riders take it every day.  The queues can be quite long, especially on weekends and public holidays, so you'll want to take that into account.  There are shops and eateries at the top.  The tram runs from 7AM to 12AM daily, and you're better off waiting for a sunny day to appreciate the best views.

Happy Valley Racecourse

Happy Wednesdays are what everyone is doing on a Wednesday night, at Happy Valley Racecourse.  This big party near Causeway Bay has something for everyone.  There's plenty of horse racing to enjoy, and you can even gamble on it all proceeds go towards local charities.  Between races there's plenty of live entertainment.  Or you can just partake in the multiple fun games at the track, and drink & dine with their impressive food and drink menu.  Happy Valley Racecourse is open from 6PM-11PM on Wednesdays and can get crowded quickly, so it's best to get there early.
