What's The Weather Like In Hisaronu In September

Sunshine Hours

Temperatures are beginning to fall again in Turkey in September, though along the Turquoise Coast this is really just the end of summer and it will still feel pretty warm. There are up to 11 sunshine hours in Hisaronu each day, temperatures remain high, and there's very little rainfall. By the end of the month, as autumn approaches, it will start to feel colder.

Temperature

The average temperature in Hisaronu in September is a very warm 23C, with highs of 30C. The highest temperature ever recorded in the area at this time is nearly 41C, so it can still get quite hot indeed at this time of year. High temperatures are moderated somewhat by Hisaronu's mountainous topography and the low humidity levels. September is nowhere near the hottest part of the year, but it's still likely to be great beach weather. Overnight, the temperature drops to around 15C and it will feel a little cooler but still very pleasant.

It's a similar story across Turkey, in coastal areas like Alanya the average temperature is 25C and Izmir still sees highs of 29C. It will be colder the further north you travel, with average temperatures of just 21C and highs of 25C in Istanbul. The north of the country tends to be cooler year round.

Rain

September is usually quite dry in Hisaronu, with average rainfall of 19mm over 12 days. This is a marked increase on previous months, with only 5mm of rainfall expected over 8 days in August. The end of the month will be wetter than the beginning, though any rainfall is likely to take the form of short, sharp showers and shouldn't prove too disruptive.

Hisaronu Beaches For September

Calis Beach

At Calis Beach is a 4km walk made up of shingle and dark sand. Sporting activities are big draws to the watersports front, some of these include windsurfing and kite-surfing. The beach is rather gritty sand but the swimming is safe and bars and cafes run along the lengthy promenade behind the beach. Both areas well maintained and kept clean and tidy, and sunbeds and umbrellas are available at a reasonable price. The people are welcoming, friendly and helpful and the salesmen not too intrusive.

Calis Koca

Another option, a 20-minute walk away, is the secluded Calis Koca with 5km of sand and A-list appeal it was used as a location in the Bond movie, Skyfall. Here the beach is much sandier and even more child friendly.

Unfortunately the mayor of Fethiye decided to have the actual Skyfall set demolished, but Koca Calis has lots of fabulous beach bars and restaurants which are sometimes overlooked in favour of Calis itself. If you don't fancy walking, you can always get a taxi for just a few lira. In recent days, Koca alı was a wild area of beach, marsh and reeds and reached from alı Beach via a pebble road and sandy track. It would be quite impassable some days when it rained. Despite the growth of the area, it is still possible to have that feeling of being in a secret area, where no one else goes, overlooking the rest of civilisation.

Sugar Beach

If you're travelling with small children and you're looking for a safe beach, try Sugar Beach. The calm and clear waters are very shallow for a long way out, making it the ideal place for children to swim

Bars And Restaurants

Mozaik Bahçe

Mozaik Bahçe is considered by many to be the best restaurant in Fethiye. The food comes from the Hatay region in the east of Turkey. Doan is keen to tell people about the food they serve and how Mozaik Bahçe got its name. The Hatay region of Turkey is a mixture of cultures and religions and therefore cuisines. It's like a mosaic of all of those, hence the name of the restaurant! Most restaurants in Fethiye do a meze platter, Mozaik Bahçe throws some extras in that you won't find anywhere else in Fethiye. The restaurant is open from the end of March until mid-November.

Popeye's Boat

Popeye's Boat in Fethiye is an unusual place for lunch, and the food is excellent. The boat is permanently moored on the corner of the harbour, where the canal flows into the sea near the entrance to the Tuesday market in Fethiye. Just 4 lira gets you a half bread with a battered fillet of whiting, tomato, onion, rocket leaves, a drizzle of lemon juice and salt. And if you sit on the boat, you get a tub of tangy pickled chillies as well. It's absolutely delicious!

But it's a great way to see the beauty of the local area, and for adrenaline junkies is no doubt a lot of fun. There's ample headroom and it's surprisingly spacious inside these little crafts, and the earphone and intercom system allows constant communication between passenger and pilot (in case you're worried at any point). Focus Tourism will pick up and drop off at your hotel and flights take place every day between May and October.

Tandem Paragliding With Tiny Akropol

If you like a bit more adventure in your holiday, try tandem paragliding with Tiny Akropol. They offer free hotel pick up and drop off, and all instructors are qualified and experienced. The experience takes place at Babadag Mountain, one of the best locations in the world for paragliding, where you will take off from the top of this 6,600ft mountain and glide slowly on your parachute 'wing' to the golden sands of Oludeniz below. When the conditions are right, can run until the glider inflates above your head and gently lifts you off the ground. Landing is as smooth as take-off, as the pilot flares the canopy and you touch down with a little forward motion. The maximum weight the gliders can carry is 120 kg (or 18 stone).
