What's the Weather like in Grand Cayman in November

Temperature

The penultimate month of the year features pleasant temperatures on Grand Cayman. It is warm throughout the month, while periods of hot weather are rare and usually short. Daily highs, in general, remain around 29C (84.2F), rarely dropping below 27C (80.6F) or exceeding 31C (87.8F). Low temperatures, in most cases, range between 23C (73.4F) and 27C (80.6F). The warmest time of the day is around 12:30 pm.

When compared to Haiti (Port-au-Prince), the Cayman Islands feature more pleasant temperatures this time of year.

Clouds

In November, the cloud cover over Grand Cayman Island decreases at a fast rate. According to statistics, November 1 is the day when the chances of mostly cloudy or overcast sky are 57%. On November 11, the probability of cloudy weather is 51%. The last day of the month has a 62% chance to be clear, mostly clear, or partially cloudy.

Sunshine Hours

On average, it is likely that any given day during November will have 7 or 8 sunshine hours.

The highest chance of the cloud cover passing over the island is at night, around 3 pm. Morning hours, anywhere between 7:30 am and 10:30 am, are clearest the most.

Rainfall

In the course of November, the possibility of a wet day and precipitation decreases rapidly. For example, November 1 is 31% likely to be a rainy day, with the average amount of received rainfall being 97 mm (3.82 in). The possibility of a rainy day on November 30 is 16%, while precipitation is likely to be around 44 mm (1.73 in). Regardless of what these numbers might suggest, the average amount of rainfall the Grand Cayman resort receives during November doesn't exceed 155 mm (6.1 in).

In general, rain is most likely to occur just after midnight on any given day. The island is the least likely to receive the precipitation at evenings between 6 pm and 7 pm. Heavy thunderstorms and showers that last up to a few hours are the most common form of rain here. Once they pass, rain usually doesn't fall again on that day. Furthermore, rainy weather, even when it occurs, doesn't tend to hit all regions of the island simultaneously. Hence, not all people in the same town have to have the same weather.

Wind Speed

November is the windiest month of the year in the resort of Grand Cayman. According to observations, November 26 is the windiest day throughout the year, with the average wind speed of 7 m/s (moderate breeze). The rest of the month, the speed of the wind varies between 6.4 m/s (beginning of the month) and 6.9 m/s (the month's end). The time of the day when the wind is usually the strongest is around mid-morning. Mid-afternoon is, in general, the calmest.

Average Sea Temperature

The sea temperature in the waters around the Grand Cayman coastline varies between 28C (82.4F) and 29C (84.2F) in the course of November.

Extraordinary Weather Occurances

November is officially the final month of the hurricane season in Grand Cayman, albeit the chances of a hurricane occurring are very low. For instance, the last hurricane that caused major damage to the island happened in 2004.

The area in which the Cayman Islands are located is susceptible to earthquakes because of the nearness of Caribbean and North American tectonic plates. However, a chance of a disastrous earthquake, with the last one occurring in 2004, is very low.

If the earthquake hits the area, it could lead to a tsunami. Tsunamis are the most dangerous by the coast, where the waves become the largest. Hence, people in boats on the open sea are often in much lesser risk than those ashore. If an earthquake triggers a tsunami, you should head deeper inland as quickly as possible and, if available, take some higher ground.
