Beaches in Gran Canaria for October

Las Canteras Beach

The southern spot of the Las Canteras Beach is packed with shops selling water sports equipment and surf schools. Anyone looking to partake in watersports, snorkelling and diving will be well catered for on this beach.

If you fancy a bite to eat or some people watching with an ice cold drink,  the Paseo de las Canteras promenade is located along the beach. It is is a buzzy and authentic promenade packed with shops, restaurants and cafés.

Puerto Rico Beach

A family friendly beach that enjoys year round sunshine and a lovely gentle breeze. Puerto Rico Beach is located in the south of the island in a bustling holiday resort. This is a busy beach in high season, but not as crowded in October. The resort provides excellent amenities with showers, parasols and sun beds. 

If you want to take part in watersports  such as jetskiing, sailing, fishing, diving. Visitors can also go on boat excursions and dolphin watching excursions, 

Nearby next to beautifiul tropical gardens , there is a large swimming pool, a water park, golf course and shopping centre.  With clear blue water and plentiful beachfront cafes and bars, Puerto Rico beach is a fantastic resort with a great beach.

La Mattina

There are several excellent choices for dining out in the area of Puerto Rico, including La Mattina for Italian cuisine. This cozy and sophisticated eatery is known for its classic Italian offerings like pasta, pizza and tiramisu. This popular place certainly has vocal proponents in its corner. Like many other well-loved restaurants on the island, you should plan ahead and make reservations to secure a table.

Happy Valley Indian Restaurant

Fancy a curry? Head to Happy Valley Indian Restaurant in Puerto Rico. You can expect classic Indian dishes varying levels of spiciness so don't worry is spicy isn't your thing. Happy Valley offers free delivery even late at night, so if you've had a few too many while out or even at the hotel, Happy Valley can bring food to you result!

Divinity Karaoke Bar

Divinity Karaoke Bar is a fun place for everyone, even kids. Located in the Yumbo Centrum like many of the notable bars in the area, this one caters to a wide audience. Cocktail waitresses go from table to table so you can unwind and concentrate on making your next song selection.

Fresh local fish and traditional Canarian restaurant by La Cantera beach in Las Palmas. Delicious local  fresh seafood and if you are looking for meat  try their Argentinan steaks and the classic grill dish "Casa Carmelo". 

The restaurant is next to the beach and is the largest in La Palmas. It offers delicious and affordable food with the backdrop of the sea waves and an ocean breeze. 

Things to do in Gran Canaria in October

Barranco de Guayadeque

Take advantage of the warm autumn weather on the island by choosing to explore it in the Barranco de Guayadeque. This ravine is located on the southern end of the island and is full of natural wonder and ancient ruins. In this area, the indigenous people of Gran Canaria lived and visitors can see caves where these people lived.

There are modern buildings in the area including two museums dedicated to the area; one even includes mummy remains. If you'd like to see this sight, you will need to rent a car because there is no road wide enough for a bus to get to it.

Playa de Maspalomas

If you would rather head towards the sea on your holiday, the Playa de Maspalomas is considered one of the finest beaches on the island. This long stretch of beach has flowing golden sands set against shallow, bright blue waters.

Well-kept and guarded by local police, you can feel safe and secure with children on this beach. However, there is one caveat; this beach has stretches that are nudist, so pay attention to what section you plump for if you're not looking for an added show!
