What's the weather like in Gozo in June?
June is usually the time when the hot weather really starts in Gozo. The month is typified by long, warm dry days without a cloud in the sky, providing that delicious Maltese climate that so many visitors are looking for.
Though there are many years when there is not a drop of rain between June and September, there is still an 8% chance of rainfall during the month. But even then, only 3mm of precipitation are expected throughout the entire period.
An average of 13 hours of daily sunshine, ensure that a little rain cannot put a dampener on a visit at this time of the year, offering the perfect location for an early summer holiday.
For the locals, June is the time when trips to the beach start in earnest, especially as sea temperatures reach a very welcoming 22°C during the month, far warmer than in the previous months of March, April and May.
The chances of having a sunny day in June in Gozo are also very high, estimated at approximately 74% throughout. At the same time, the chances of experiencing a cloudy day is a meagre 3%.
Average temperatures of 23°C are normal for this time of year with lows usually around 18°C. Historically, 1994 recorded the highest temperature in the region during June, which tipped the thermometer at 39.4°C. Conversely, the lowest temperature recorded in Gozo during the same time period was still a very mild 13.5°C back in 2007.
The wind also drops significantly in Gozo during the month of June, with only July and August offering calmer days. In June, the chances of having a windy day fall to just 18%, making it the perfect time to visit.

Beaches in Gozo in June
The combination of clear blue seas, water level caves and a sandy and pebbly beach means Hondoq ir-Rummien appeals to both locals and visitors alike. Accessed via the village of Qala, Hondoq ir-Rummien is popular with divers and snorkelers. And many swimmers use the ladders on the rocks to enter the sea. Though no bus route passes through this countryside area, it is easily accessible by car or bike, providing beautiful views over Comino and the surrounding area. The average sea temperature in June is 22°C.
Ramla Beach in Xaghra is one of the most popular beaches in Gozo. Deep red sand and azure blue sea combine to make an eye catching combination that is simply irresistible. The sea is warm and shallow at the front in June, making it the ideal location for families with younger children. And with plenty of cafes and food stalls on site, this is a beach that caters for everyone. Toilet facilities and a fresh water shower are also based directly on the beach and a lifeguard on duty ensures everyone can enjoy Ramla.

Tapies Bar in the centre of Victoria is a fantastic place to experience some Gozitan nightlife. Open from early morning until late at night, Tapies is popular with locals and visitors alike, bringing an eclectic combination mix of people together. Though always very busy, there are plenty of tables outside to enjoy the warm June air. And with reasonable prices and good cold beer, you really don't want to miss it.

At Horatio's Upper Deck you can enjoy Gozitan hospitality at its best. Sit outside and enjoy some drinks and listen to the regular array of live music. Or treat yourself to the speciality of the house the 'Horatio's Platter' in the lively atmosphere inside the bar. With a mixture of local delicacies washed down with some tasty local drinks, you will want to go back to Horatio's again.
The Glass Box in Malsaforn has a different vibe depending on when you choose to go. In the early evening it is popular with the locals who enjoy a draught beer on their way home from work. But later in the evening, the live music and energetic atmosphere gets you ready for a party. Located just back from the seafront in Marsalforn, everyone gets a warm reception at the Glass Box.
Things to Do in Gozo in June
When things get too laid back in Gozo, you can always take a day to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the main island of Malta thanks to the Gozo Ferry. Highly economical and a lovely experience in its own right, the staff are friendly, a variety of food is available on board and a regular service ensures you can return to Gozo whenever you wish. Just take care when traveling on the Gozo Ferry in June, as they do switch to the summer timetable half way through the month which means service times do alter.
The Blue Hole
From sea or land, the Blue Hole in Dwerja is a sight not to be missed. The 130 ft deep natural inland sea pool is considered by many to be one of the best dive spots in the world. And as home to a wide range of local wildlife and corals in the clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea, it is highly popular with visitors to Gozo and locals alike. Arrange a diving party to the local area, take advantage of one of the many boat trips which visit the site or simply use the local bus route. Though access may be limited to those with mobility issues, the steep climb opens up a world of wonders you won't experience anywhere else.
Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul
If you visit Gozo towards the end of June, it is definitely worth making a stop in Nadur to experience the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul. Taking place between the 26th and 29th June, this is a time of celebration for the island and a public holiday for the inhabitants. Based on the Italian Festival of Lights, the Nadur people fill the streets with bonfires, fireworks, folk music and stalls celebrating a very special time of the year.
