Lake Geneva

The exterior of the Chillon Castle features defensive facilities, such as arrow slits and battlements. Inside the fortified complex, the buildings encircle four small courtyards. Brunswick Monument

Brunswick Monument is a neo-Gothic masterpiece of Ville de Genève. It is a monument dedicated to Charles d'Este-Guelph, an eccentric duke of Brunswick who was a linguist, musician and chevalier (horseman). After amassing a fortune in Paris, France, he moved to Geneva. Before he died, he bequeathed his wealth to the city under the condition that the city dedicates a grand mausoleum to him. Today, it doesn't seem to be a big deal. However, it raised quite a controversy in 1873 because none mausoleum was built here before this one.

Perle-du-Lac Park, just east of the UN headquarters, is a beautiful park overlooking Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc in the distance.
