Things to do in Fethiye in December
The winter is not one of the most popular times to visit because it is hard to enjoy one of Fethiye's most popular attractionsts beaches. In addition, there are fewer hours of sunlight during the winter with only 7 hours of daily sunshine in December. Despite the chilly weather and the (relative) lack of sunshine, there are many things to do in Fethiye during the month of December.
If you are in the area for a few days, you might want to explore the areas around Fethiye. The beautiful resort of Olu Deniz has a beach with perfect places to view the famous Turkish sunsets. Olu Deniz is only a quick 30 minutes bus ride from Fethiye.
City of Myra
One of the most exciting things you can do is visit the real home of Santa. St. Nicholas, who is known as Father Christmas, lived for a while in a town close to Fethiye and his church is still there. The church, which is located in the City of Myra, is a bit of a drive from Fethiyepproximately three hours awayut is not only a great experience by itself; it is also a great way to see the beautiful coast. Seeing the home of Santa Clause can be costly, though. There is a separate entry fee for both the City of Myra as well as the entrance to the church, but, if you are in the Christmas spirit and want to see a beautiful piece of history, it is a great trip to make.
