Dubrovnik Beaches in March

Babin Kuk Peninsula

March may still be too cold and rainy for swimming in the sea, but if you should luck out during a dry spell head over to the Babin Kuk peninsula north of Dubrovnik. Here the pace tends to be slower, with pretty cafes and luxury hotels overlooking the sea. One of the most beloved beaches is the Copacabana Beach, situated on the cusp of Seka Bay.

Banje Beach

Lapad is a great family-friend public beach, dotted with showers and cafes, but you have to take bus no 6 from Pile to get there. If you're looking to stay closer to old town, wander over to Banje Beach, a simple walk from Ploce Gate. Another option is Dance beach, situated under a convent complex about 600 feet from the city.

Elaphite Islands Or Lokrum Island

You can take a ferry to one of the Elaphite islands for their pebble and sand beaches, or do a boat trip out to Lokrum Island. Though the waters will probably not be their best this time of year, it's worth to see the Roman and medieval ruins and Lokrum's botanical gardens.

Bars and Restaurants

Many of the restaurants in Dubrovnik closed for the winter begin to open in March for the tourist season, so be sure to check opening hours before you go.

Oyster & Sushi Bar Bota

Local tradition decrees that on St. Joseph's Day (March 19), oysters are their most delicious. Many restaurants celebrate the occasion with oyster samplersoup, fritters, roasted, fried or baked oystersith a glass of a good local white. Sample the best at the Oyster & Sushi Bar Bota. The fushion Mediterranean-Japanese theme is reflected in the clean interior and the tasty menuon't leave without tasting the paprika tempura roll or the salmon carpaccio.

Proto

Another great option is the historic restaurant Proto, in business since 1886. The chefs still prepare their fish specialties according to old recipes handed down for centuries among local fishermen. The set menu from lunch includes shrimps in saffron sauce, stuffed lobster au gratin and hazelnut parfait.

Nishta

Not a seafood lover? Head over to popular Nishta for its high-quality vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes. Located in the old town, it always stays busy so book your table ahead. The menu includes many great mouthwatering options like salads, soups, samosas, and falafel. Or try the fresh pizzas at Tabasco, reasonably priced and served to order in a wood oven.

Sky Bar Or Club Lazareti

If you're looking to dance the night away, try the new addition Sky Bar. With its reasonably priced menu and lounge vibe, it's quickly become a local favorite. If live music is more your style, you can't go wrong at Club Lazareti, which hosts performers from local rock bands to independents. Classical music lovers will find a home at the Rector's Palace and Sponza Palace, where concerts sometimes play outdoors. These are less frequent in the spring, so be sure to check the tourist board for schedules.

Things to do in Dubrovnik in March

March is one of the best times of year to visit Dubrovnik as the Easter holidays are in full swing. Carnival erupts with singing, dancing, and elaborate costumes in the first week of the month, and a number of religious celebrations during the holy week leading up to Easter.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

If you are in the area for a few extra days, rent a car and take a drive up north to Plitvice Lakes National Park. The end of March should see the snows begin to thaw off the hills.
