November Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

You can definitely feel the temperature falling in Djerba during November. Though, at the start of the month the weather is more like the 23°C average temperature of October, by the end of the month the climate is closer to the 14°C that December brings.

But as the average temperature throughout the month is still 18°C, it is far better than anything experienced back in the UK.

Even the average high temperature for this last month of autumn is still a very pleasant 21°C, which makes it possible to enjoy a lot of beach days even this late in the year.

Average sea temperatures are also just one degree higher than the average peak climate. And at 22°C it will definitely tempt the majority people into the water.

Even on the coldest days or in the depth of the night average lows are unlikely to fall below 14°C, which means the Mediterranean climate is there to be enjoyed by anyone lucky enough to visit.

November is, however, the wettest month of the year in Djerba. This means a full 50mm of rain are likely to fall through the month. However with only 6 days expecting any precipitation, it is more than likely that any showers will be short and sharp, rather than lasting all day.

As we move into winter, the days do get longer in this part of Tunisia, offering an average of 10 hours of daily sunshine throughout November. And as temperatures reached a record 39°C in November back in 1993, it is definitely wise to always have suitable sun protection to hand.

November is actually a great time for couples to visit because it affords them a fantastic view of the sunset without the high levels of tourists that the peak season can attract. But it is also a great time for families or single people to come to the island, especially if they want to avoid the cold November weather like in the UK.

Where to Stay

Hotel Nereides is a great place to stay for a value holiday in Djerba. The two outdoor pools and indoor heated pool ensure there's always something to do, even if the November weather is a bit chillier than you expected. And when the sun heats up, the beach is only just across the road, with a private area just for Nereides' guests. Located within Zone Touristique, the hotel is situated within easy distance of pubs, clubs and some very good restaurants. But it never gets too noisy here, even late at night. The Moorish style rooms are basic but very clean and there is always the massage room or hairdresser on site when you want a bit of pampering. Book all-inclusive for the most economical way to enjoy the delicious buffet style restaurant and make the most of any trip to the island.

The Palm Djerba is a great place to stay for those that want to enjoy the luxury of a top quality hotel but in more apartment type accommodation. Each of the 10 suites are fully equipped to a very high standard, offering a good sized kitchen, large screen TV in the living room and spacious bedrooms. Furthermore, there is a coffee shop and restaurant on site for all meals, and a private swimming pool. Based in Mezraya, the Palm Djerba is close to the beach and the casino and is only 5km from the centre of Midoun. It is the ideal alternative to traditional accommodation whether you travel to Djerba for business or pleasure.

Though the Dar Salem is much quieter in November than it would be in the peak summer months, there is always a warm welcome at this Djerbian guest house. The pool is open, and perfect for those warmer days. While the Hammam steam room and massage treatments can always warm you up when the air cools down. Spend the evenings sat at the private bar, after a good meal at the wonderful little restaurant inside. The staff are so friendly you will feel like one of the family. The prices are reasonable, the rooms are very comfortable and the beach is just a short walk away. For a very pleasant winter getaway it's a wonderful place to be.

Things to Do

As the wind picks up in Djerba, but the sea stays a very pleasant temperature, November is the perfect time to go Kite Surfing on the island. This water based activity is a cross between windsurfing, surfing and paragliding and is taking Djerba by storm. For professional teachers and high quality equipment, book a lesson at Kitesurf Djerba. Their experienced tutors will give you hands on advice on how to ensure the weather in the region actually helps you achieve your goals. It's exhilarating, it's challenging and it may be the best sport you ever try. Give it a go once and you're sure to be hooked.

A tour to Fort de Borj El Kastil will not only offer some of the best views off of the coast of Djerba, but the stories that you will learn about this historic site are legendary. From the creation of these Muslim self defence systems to the massacre that occurred in the 1500's, there seems to be a tale to tell about each inch of this historic harbour defence. And each one is more engaging than the last. Be warned, the area is very exposed, so even in November suitable sun protection is required. You can then explore this challenging terrain until your heart is content.

Restaurants and Nightlife

The Blue Moon is a family run restaurant in Houmt Souk which is perfect for a quiet dinner in November. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are on hand to ensure everything is just right. While the speciality in this beach front restaurant is definitely fish, they have something for every type of taste on the menu. From the delicious local couscous to the intense flavours of the grilled seafood. When you want a meal that uses simple, local ingredients to make delicious, fresh dishes, the Blue moon is the place to come.

Le Bistrot Djerba offers delicious fine dining in the very centre of Djerba. Entering the Bistro is like stepping into a Parisian restaurant, but this time you are in the warm climate of Tunisia. From the fresh seafood to the incredible meat dishes, this touch of French gourmet cuisine offers a welcome break from the 'international dishes' that are often available in the area. Just be sure to book your table beforehand whether you visit in November or the peak summer season. This is a place that is always popular.

The owners of El Farida have combined the Djerbian's penchant for gambling with their love for good entertainment to create a hive of activity throughout the year. Enter the building in Zone Touristique and enjoy the bar facilities where everyone can partake in the extensive variety of drinks on offer. While upstairs, the atmosphere is even more animated, with live music a regular occurrence. The high quality restaurant is sure to satisfy anyone who has made a reservation. While the gambling tables are on hand to see if your luck is in. For a variety of entertainments all under one roof, El Farida is always worth a visit.
