Disneyworld Weather September Averages, USA
The temperature in September starts to decrease at Walt Disney World as the summer comes to an end with average temperatures at 27°C. However it can still reach a scorching 32°C on a very hot day, whilst on a cooler day the average lowest temperature decreases to 22°C. The amount of sunshine hours are also starting to slightly fall with an average of nine hours per day. There's also quite a lot of rainfall in this month with an average of 160mm throughout the whole month of September, as afternoon thunder storms are quite common, so don't forget to bring a lightweight coat along with you.
September is a great time of year to visit Disney World as the crowds are generally low to moderate throughout the whole month as schools have gone back and the climate just starts to get a bit cooler. However, the hurricane season does run through September but it's very unusual for this to actually affect the resort.
Things to do
Magic Kingdom Theme Park is dedicated to Disney's most beloved characters and enchanting fairy tales. This theme park is well known around the world because of the iconic Cinderella Castle, which towers over the rest of the area. But there are lots of other things to do here from visiting the log-flume ride at Splash Mountain or facing your fears at the Haunted Mansion.
Epcot is one of the most popular theme parks and is dedicated solely to human innovations and cultures from around the globe. The World Showcase contains 11 pavilions, each representing a different country such as Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. This is a great place to spend the day at, to get a taste of each country without actually having to go there.
Come and join in with the fun at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party during the run up to Halloween in October. This is an annual event held each year at the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. Don't forget to dress in your spookiest outfit and watch the parade pass by. There's also the possibility to get autographs from notorious villains such as Captain Hook and the Queen of Hearts.
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is also an annual event held every year in the World Showcase area of Epcot theme park. There are lots of marketplaces dotted around the area, where you can buy alcoholic beverages and traditional cuisine from around the world.
Time to celebrate
Celebrate the end of summer and the changing of seasons at Wishes Nighttime Spectacular nightly at 10pm located within the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. This memorable fireworks show combines music from the classic Disney films with an emotional story about making your wishes come true. For the best view head to the Main Street railroad station or the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.
Another spectacular fireworks show to go to is IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at the World Showcase Lagoon every night at 9pm. You can even book a boat on the Illuminations Cruise for a private viewing over the lake.
Eating and drinking out
Fine dine at Be Our Guest Restaurant situated in the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. Choose from some shrimp and scallops or feast on a grilled strip steak. There are also a lot of options for kids here, from chicken fingers and fries to Mickey meatloaf, there may even be some appearances from characters from Beauty and the Beast.
You can't go to Florida without trying an authentic hot dog! Head over to the baseball themed Casey's Corner in the Main Street at Magic Kingdom. Try some of the delicious gourmet dogs including a chili-cheese dog or a barbecue-slaw dog. Or why not try some of the novelty corn dog nuggets and a sweet chocolate brownie.
You will feel just like you are fine dining in Tuscany whilst you eat at the Tutto Italia Ristorante in the Italian area of Epcot. Enjoy some classic Italian dishes here from Panna Cotta to succulent salmon with olives. However, if you're missing some traditional fish and chips from back home look no further than the Yorkshire County Fish Shop located at the United Kingdom area in Epcot. Enjoy a side of chips or some battered fish with a pint of beer for a very reasonable price!
Where to stay
Why not stay in the recently upgraded Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista Downtown, which is located inside the World Disney World Resort and not far from the Downtown Disney area. This hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service to the main four theme parks including Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios. There's also the option of staying at Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, which offers extra magic hours to the Disney World Theme Parks. If you are staying here over the weekend, on a Sunday there's also a Disney Character Breakfast, which is a great opportunity for the little ones to meet their favourite characters.
A more luxurious option would be the magnificent Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This glamorous hotel is only one mile away from the Magic Kingdom area plus only a 20-minute drive from Orlando International Airport. There are a lot of things to do here from eating at the Disney themed breakfast to browsing in one of the many shops located at the hotel. Another option to think of is Disney's BoardWalk Inn, also located within the Walt Disney World Resort. This charming hotel is situated next to the lakeside and is designed to look like a 1940's Inn.
