Disneyworld Weather January Averages, USA

    Disneyworld Weather for January 2020

    Weather lowdown

January is usually the coldest month of the year in Orlando, with an average high temperature of 21C and the lowest average falling to 10C at night time, so it's still a pleasant climate even in the height of winter. Day-to-day weather is generally dry and sunny with the average rainfall being around 2.3 inches throughout the whole month, which makes it a lot drier than the summer months of June and July which receive an average of over seven inches of rainfall. You can also expect on average to see around seven hours of sunlight per day.

Overall, the end of January is probably the best time of the year to visit Disney World Orlando, as the crowds are well below average and the temperature is pleasantly mild and there's relatively no humidity.

    Things to do

Those who enjoy the wild side of life will love Disney's Animal Kingdom, the largest out of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort. This huge nature and adventure park is home to over 1,700 animals from all over the globe. Why not take a jeep safari expedition to spot some elephants or giant hippos from the wilderness of Africa, or if you are feeling fearless you can climb aboard the railway car which will take you to the top of Mount Everest.

If you are a fan of the Walt Disney movies then you must head to Disney's Hollywood Studios which features many live shows and events based on the classic blockbuster movies. If your little ones have ever wanted to be a storm trooper or defeat Darth Vader then they will love Star Wars: Jedi Training Academy. Kids from the ages of 4 -12 will learn how to wield a lightsaber at one of the 30-minute live shows, including music from the Star Wars trilogy and all their favourite characters. Whilst if you have a little princess then she will love Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage. This Broadway themed 25-minute musical includes the classic characters and music from the hit film.

    Eating and drinking out

There are numerous superb restaurants in Disney World so you will never have to worry about going hungry. The Tusker House Restaurant is an African themed eatery and can be found in the area of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Tuck into a hot hog roast or try some of the honey glazed ham, whilst for the kids they can try some delicious Mickey Mouse shaped waffles.

The Art Deco Hollywood & Vine restaurant is situated in Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park and offers a scrumptious buffet and salad bar for all times of the day. This is a great place to take the kids as they will meet some of their favourite characters from Disney Jr. including Jake the Neverland pirate and Handy Manny. However, if you are looking for somewhere with an air of sophistication head to Be Our Guest Restaurant in the new Fantasyland, where you can taste some of the flavours of France in a Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant.

For a cheap lunch in downtown Disney head to the Earl of Sandwich, which specialises in all-American food from cheddar cheese wraps to Caribbean jerk chicken.  But if it's cold outside step inside the warm and cosy Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant to feast upon some traditional beef stew and Shepherd's pie for a moderate price. You will feel like you've been transported to the heart of Ireland as you're encouraged to dance along to some Irish folk music.

    Where to stay

Accommodation options at Disney World are numerous, however a lot of the hotels on the actual resort can be quite expensive but there are many hotels located close to the site which are a lot cheaper.

For those with a small budget the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista is conveniently located next to the Downtown Disney Marketplace and Cirque Du Soleil. Another place to stay is the recently renovated Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista Downtown which offers complimentary transportation to and from the theme parks including Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Hollywood studios.

Mid-range is Disney's All-Star Movies Resort which features Disney icons including One Hundred and One Dalmatians and Pixar's Toy Story. Or for those with a particularly large budget Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge  offers African-inspired architecture situated right in the middle of a savannah, where giraffes and zebras roam.
