Disneyworld Weather February Averages, USA
February is usually when it starts to get a bit warmer at Disney World with slightly higher temperatures than January, with an average maximum of 23C and a minimum temperature of 10C. There's also very little rainfall, however a little higher than January at an average of 82mm throughout the whole month, so it's still a rather dry season compared to the height of the summer. In this month there's also an average of eight hours of sunlight per day, a slight increase from January.
February is a good time of year to visit Disney World as the crowd levels are generally low, however it can get very busy on Valentine's Day and Presidents Day, which is always on the third Monday of February.
Things to do
President's day is on the third Monday of February, so if you're visiting Disney World around this time it's a great opportunity to visit The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom Park. This magnificent display contains moving life size waxwork figures of all the 43 U.S presidents to sit in office, including Barack Obama and George Washington.
Epcot Theme Park spreads over 300 acres, making it even larger than the Magic Kingdom Park. There's so much to do here from visiting the World Showcase area which features attractions based on 11 countries including Mexico and Japan. Or why not hop on the Soarin' simulator that glides you over some of California's most picturesque landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge and Napa Valley.
Princesses of all ages are invited to join the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, which takes place from February 20th to February 23rd. The actual marathon is in total 13.1 miles and runs through Disney's Magical Kingdom Park and Epcot Theme Park. There are loads of prizes to be awarded, even for just taking part, including a commemorative sash and finishing medals. Also, from February 22nd to February 23rd you can compete in the new Glass Slipper Challenge which features two courses through the resort totalling at 19.3 miles. If you want to take part in either of these events try to book your place as soon as possible as they tend to sell out rather quickly.
If you're a fan of football or as they call it in the states 'soccer' you can't afford to miss the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic set to take place from February 9th through to February 23rd. This event features eight professional teams such as Toronto FC and Orlando City competing in a pre-season tournament at the popular ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Time to celebrate
IllumiNations is a spectacular fireworks, laser and water show extravaganza which takes place at 9pm throughout the month of February at Epcot Theme Park. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth tells the story of how this planet has evolved from the big bang to celebrating the achievements of humans over the millions of years. This fireworks show is so big that it can be viewed from anywhere in the Epcot World Showcase.
Another breath taking fireworks show to go to is Fantasmic, performed nightly at 7pm at Disney's Hollywood studios theme park. This popular show plays some of Disney's well known tracks and stars the one and only Mickey Mouse, and a whole range of other classic Disney characters such as the Little Mermaid, Cruella de Vil and Dumbo.
Eating and drinking out
If you are spending the day at Epcot theme park the Nine Dragons Restaurant can be found at the China Pavilion and is open for lunch and dinner at a very reasonable price. This authentic Chinese restaurant serves modern cuisine including shrimp and chicken egg rolls as appetisers or regional specialities such as Kung Pao Chicken and Five-spiced Fish. However, if you would rather eat some delicious food from back home in Britain the Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room in the United Kingdom Pavilion at Epcot theme park offers all the favourites including fish & chips and apple crumble. You can also choose from a large selection of ales, lagers and ciders at the bar whilst you listen to some traditional English music played on the piano.
A more expensive option would be the Biergarten Restaurant found in the centre of the Bavarian Village in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot theme park. Delicious traditional German food is served here from apple strudel to dumplings. Your evening will be packed with entertainment as costumed musicians will provide authentic German entertainment in the grand hall. If you would rather choose the cheaper option head to Gaston's Tavern , located in the New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. This is the perfect place for people with a sweet tooth, as you can choose from a wide range of pastries including cinnamon rolls and caramelised fruits at this fast-service restaurant.
Where to stay
There's a wide range of hotels at Disney World, however you have to choose wisely as some can be very expensive, but there are still a lot of cheaper options in and around the resort. Disney's Art of Animation Resort is a very reasonably priced hotel dedicated to Disney's classic films such as The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. If your little ones are fans of particular movies there's also the option to pick a family suite inspired by the films including Finding Nemo Family Suites and Cars Family Suites. Another cheap option to think of is Disney's Pop Century Resort featuring enormous figurines and 20th century toys which are guaranteed to take your breath away. Also on site are three swimming pools to choose from, shaped like a computer monitor and a bowling pin.
If you would rather stay at a more remote location and spend your holiday nestled in 750 acres of woodland then stay at The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. The cosy cabins have a rustic American frontier feel to them making them all that more special. There are many different activities located in this area including pony rides, Segway tours and carriage rides, and if you get a bit peckish there's also many eateries situated around the grounds such as Mickey's Backyard BBQ and Trail's End Restaurant. Another cheaper option to stay at is the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort, located across the street from Disney's Downtown area. Enjoy a superb Disney themed breakfast here, where your little ones can take pictures with their favourite characters.
