There are a number of restaurants close by and you'll find most of Corfu Town's nightlife within half a mile.

Corfu Beach for January

Though still too chilly for most water activities, a stroll along the beach in Corfu is always welcome. Try the beach in front of Dassia, a resort about 20 minutes' bus ride from Corfu Town, where you can relax on the sand or just admire the view over Grecian waters.

Bars and Restaurants

People in Corfu Town tend to linger over a meal rather than rush off to nightclubs. The normal routine is to take a short walk after dinner and head to one of the cafes for a couple of late evening drinks.

When looking to try out the local food, try the Aegli Restaurant. It bills itself as the oldest traditional restaurant in Corfu Town and offers both Greek and International cuisine. The Salto Wine Bar & Bistro is another local favourite. The staff are delightful, the owner approachable, and the local dishes excellent.

Pavlos Taverna Steakout in Kavos village serves some of the best meats, grilled to perfection. Succulent dishes include the Filet steak and the meatballs. That said, the large menu has an array of vegetarian meals, both Greek and British style.

Things to do in Corfu in January

The Old Town of Corfu is a UNESCO world heritage site that is well worth a visit. You can learn much about the history of the island by visiting the fortresses and palaces that were built during the Venetian rule, or simply wander round the town's narrow cobbled streets and get an idea of how the residents really live. 

If you want to take some souvenirs home with you at the end of your holiday, shops selling handmade needlework, jewellery, leather goods and objects made from olive wood are everywhere. Head to the north end of Liston if you want to pick up some unusual bargains.
