    What's the weather like in Corfu in April

    Weather wise, Corfu Town, Greece is a perfect destination for an Easter break. The temperature has risen to an average of 15°C (59°F), with highs around 19°C (66°F and) lows at 10°C (50°F). You should be able to leave the winter woollies out of your suitcase, although you may want to pack a jacket to keep you warm if you go out in the evening.

    Corfu Beaches for April

    Drive a bit south from Corfu Town and you'll come to Halikounas, known for its unspoilt flavour. The beach is more for kitesurfing and birdwatching than taking a dip. Nearby you can explore the Byzantine fortress of Gardiki, or a WWI memorial. The monument commemorates the Serbian army's Drina Division who retreated to the beach in 1916.

    Bars and Restaurants

    For some traditional Greek cuisine, why not visit the Restaurant Rex in the centre of Corfu Town. It's a family restaurant with a pleasant ambience; the perfect to relax at the end of the day.

    Fresh dishes are always on the menu at Bakalogatos. This is a perfect place for lunch, with reasonable prices and delicious fare like cheese-stuffed peppers and pan-seared pork.

    If you fancy a drive out of town, head to the northeast corner of the island to sample some delicious seafood. Fagopoteion is a beachside taverna, with intriguing signature dishes like saganaki, baby squid, rabbit stew, wild fish and grilled octopus.

    Things to do in Corfu in April

    The British administered Corfu between 1814 and 1864 and one of their legacies is the Palace of Saint Michael and George. Today this impressive building is home to two museums. The one most tourists are interested in visiting is the Museum of Asian Art, which contains nearly 11,000 artefacts.

    Corfu Town hosts one of the wealthiest markets in Greece. The port at Corfu was an important trading post during the 17th and 18th centuries and the trading tradition continues today. As well as ceramics and hand-crafted jewellery, you'll find plenty of reasonably priced products such as delicious wines, desserts, honey and fruit on display.

    Corfu's natural beauty, from sapphire coves to cypress-laden parks, is a haven for the outdoorsy tourist. Hike up Mount Pantokrator, approximately 20 miles north of the main city, for some panoramic views of island and sea.

    History-buffs will find delight in Achilleion, a summer palace built by Empress Elisabeth of Austria in the late 19th century. Located in Gastouri, the design was inspired by Greek mythology and centers around the hero Achilles. German sculptor Ernst Herter was commissioned to produce the Dying Achilles statue that serves as the centrepiece in the gardens.
