November Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the Weather like in Cayo Coco in November

November is exceedingly warm and can be very humid in Cayo Coco. As the wet season comes to an end, however, and northern European countries start experiencing freezing temps, this is when Cuba starts experiencing a return of tourists en masse.

The heavy rains are subsiding, UV index declining, prices are still low and the island becomes wonderfully enjoyable again. If you don't mind packing a sweater for the cool evenings then this could be the ideal time for you to visit, although you may also want to pack some bug spray as this is the time of year when sand flies and mosquitoes make their unwanted reappearance.

The average temperature in November hovers around 25°C, although a definite decrease in heat can be felt as the month progresses. Highs of 29°C can be experienced during the first two weeks, whilst night-time lows will finally plummet to a very reasonable 20°C. You can expect rain on an average of 8 days in November, as well as around 8 hours of daily sunshine and glorious sea temps of around 28°C.

Strong winds are quite prevalent in November, but they help keep the heat at bay so are mostly welcomed. Cold spells are not all that uncommon in November, so pack accordingly.

Cayo Coco Hotels in November

The world-renowned Melia group of hotels and resorts run several establishments on Cayo Coco, two of which stand out among the crowd for offering quite specific options.

The first is Melia Cayo Coco, which operates on a strict no-child policy. This excellent choice is ideal for couples who prefer a more grown up ambience and, perhaps, a little more quietness even during the day. Designed and built around a natural lagoon, it offers stunning over-water bungalows and a stretch of small but superlative, sparkling beach. Melia Cayo Coco also boasts a gym, scuba dive centre, souvenir shops and 24hr medical assistance.

The other Melia-run resort is the Tryp Cayo Coco, which is as luxurious as the abovementioned option except this one also runs a great kids' club, so it's ideal for families who want a little more indulgence. The Tryp is also a much larger resort, boasting a 2km long beach, as well as two pools, and an impressive total of 14 restaurants and bars. The indoor fitness club is great to use on a rainy November day.

Cayo Coco Hotels for November

Cayo Coco is all about beach bumming and although November sees a bit of rain, it is nothing compared to what has been pouring over the last few months. If there is ever a perfect time to get back to the water, November is it!

Cayo Coco is home to an amazing coral reef, arguably the second-most important on our planet, after Australia's. You'll find innumerable options for both scuba diving and snorkelling trips, as well as a great glass-bottom boat ride for those prefer to keep dry. Fishing aficionados can also join a full-day trip to open water, although many resorts' guests also choose to simply hop on a catamaran, rent a fishing rod and try to catch marlin just off the beach. You'll be surprised how successful this can be!

Staying well clear of the beach may be a tad difficult in November, but if you want to enjoy a taste of history and culture on vacation, then look out for a day trip to historic Moron or Trinidad. Both cities are revered fork their historical importance and boast simply stunning colonial Spanish architecture.

Bars and Restaurants

Ironically enough, Cayo Coco is renowned as a brilliant destination for all those who enjoy brilliant and varied food when travelling, even though Cuban cuisine itself is not exactly the world's best. The variation and quality here comes compliments of the all-inclusive resorts, which compete with each other to offer the best food in the country. No matter where you choose to stay, you'll find a plethora of options, which usually includes at least one buffet eatery and several a la carte restaurants each offering a different cuisine. Whilst almost all have at least one Italian joint, some boast authentic Japanese, Mexican, Creole and at least one international hub where a little of everything is served.

Resorts' bars are also revered for their great choice of Cuban cocktails. When choosing the right resort, it pays to take some time to research the restaurants as well. The accommodation packages of all the Cayo Coco resorts include 3 meals a day with your room rate, so many guests find themselves eating 'out' merely once or twice during their entire stay. If premium food is very important to you, best you find the resort offering your preferred foods and then opt for the right accommodation for your specific needs.

There are actually a few local eateries tucked away between the resorts on the public stretches of beach, namely small huts run by friendly locals who tend to offer only a few dishes. What they do offer, however, is usually utterly delicious. You'll find a great restaurant on Playa Pilar, as well as Playa Prohibida and Flamenco, all proclaiming to sell the best grilled lobster in Cuba. It may be a wise choice to try them all!

Things to do in Cayo Coco in November

A brilliant incentive for choosing one of the Melia Resorts is that you are welcome to visit and use the facilities at all of them. Between the wide array of sporting and relaxing pursuits, you'll find you can fill every single day with fun and delightful activities without never leaving a resort grounds.

Should you wish to explore this fantastic island, then skip the resorts for a few hours and discover the fantastic flea markets, which are randomly set up along the route of the tour bus. This region is most famous for leather-goods and decorative crafts, but note that although you'll be tempted to stock up on rum and cigars, you'll find the best deals at the airport duty free store. Moreover, many tourists have been left disappointed with below-quality cigars bought on the island so do make sure you wait until your departure to buy authentic goods from reputable stores.
