What's the Weather like in Calella in May
One word which could sum up the month of May in this particular Spanish resort is 'wet'. Now, before you decide not to head here at this particular time, we need to put this fact into perspective this is the rainiest month of the year, but still doesn't come close to other resorts in northern Europe, who experience more in the way of rain even during their drier months.

Beaches in Calella for May
Gran Playa
The main beach in Calella is called Gran Playa, basically the biggest beach. Here you can play beach volleyball, or simply watch someone else play if you're not in the mood for being energetic! There are also many water-sports on offer, and plenty of room for sun-loungers and umbrellas. The sand is golden and the stretch is wide, so perfect for families.
At this time of year, the beach is also not going to be at its most crowded, so this is a good time to head there.
Restaurants & Nightlife
TIC-TAC
Everyone loves a steak, especially on holiday, and Calella has some great choices. The funkily named TIC-TAC serves fresh food with amazing steaks. This is a special choice, something a little upmarket, with amazing presentation definitely check this one out for special occasions.
Hooper's
Alternatively, Hooper's serve some of the best homemade burgers around, with a large beer menu too a laid-back choice, yet still very rustic in its feel.
La Roda
Equally as fantastic, check out La Roda. The seafood and chicken dishes are famed, and this is always a very busy restaurant, so perhaps book your table during the peak months especially.
Things to do in Calella in May
Girona
Whilst May is the wettest month of the year in Calella, it certainly isn't sodden, and there are certainly plenty of days which allow beach time, and getting out and about in exploration. The resort is still relatively quiet at this time, although slowly picking up speed, so you won't struggle for space on the beach or around and about. However, if you do want to get out a little and see some of the history and architecture of the region, head to Girona.
Located around an hour from the resort, and very easily accessible, you can enjoy the medieval vibe to the city, with its ancient walls and Old Quarter. The roman remains of the huge fortress take you back in time, however the modern night-life and shopping opportunities give it a totally different side to check out.
Monastery of Montserrat
Around 30 miles west of Barcelona you will find the awe-inspiring scene of the Monastery of Montserrat. Set on a mountainside, you reach the monastery itself by cable car, and it is most famous for the image of the Virgin of Montserrat. Again, this beautiful destination is very easily accessible from Calella, and you could easily stop off for a spot of sightseeing in Barcelona on the way.
Port Aventura
Of course, summer holidays are for family fun too, and in that case you need to be heading to the huge Port Aventura theme park. Famed for its themed lands and colourful atmosphere, you can stay here at the on-site hotel, or you can simply visit for the day. The park is around 2.5-3 hours away from Calella, and it is certainly advisable to book your tickets ahead of time, to beat the queues and save money. The kids will love the wide range of rides on offer, including Dragon Khan, and Shambhala.
