February Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the Weather like in Cadiz in February

Temperature

Due to the annual Carnival festival, February is a very busy and popular month for Cadiz, as rainfall drops and temperatures rise from the previous month. The month's average temperature is 14°C, with average highs and lows of 17°C/11°C.

Rainfall

With only 6 expected days of rainfall during the month, contributing to an average accumulation of 59mm, there is a good chance Carnival festival goers will remain dry during any outdoor events.

Average Sunshine Hours

As the year progresses, the city begins to receive a bit more sunshine, with 8 sunshine hours per day, up from 7 in January. There is a 75% chance of sunny skies throughout the month, while chance of wind remains constant with the previous month at a 20% chance.

If you need an escape from the hubbub of Carnival, Jerez de la Frontera the largest city in Cadiz province, and the sherry wine capitol of the world is only a 33-minute train ride away, making it a popular daytrip destination. Jerez experiences a slightly lower average temperature, 12°C throughout the month, so dress accordingly when you visit this nearby economic hub for a day of sightseeing, shopping, or wine tasting.

Average Sea Temperature

Back at port, you can expect the beaches to be moderately busy with visitors who can't pass up on a shoreline stroll. However, it's unlikely that you'll see many swimmers in the water as average sea temperatures are their lowest this month, at 16°C.

During this time of year, you will be hard pressed to find better weather anywhere in Spain. And while the city's best weather (when it's most warm and dry) occurs during the summer months of July and August, you should plan a February trip well in advance. The small city ranks as the third-most popular destination for Carnival, and accommodations fill up fast.

Cadiz Hotels in February

If you plan to visit in February, it's incredibly important to book your accommodation well in advance. Due to the popularity of Carnival in Cadiz, availability fills up fast. So much so, it's common for many to stay up all night through an evening of Carnival (or sleep on the beach) before catching an early train out to Seville in the morning, where accommodations are more readily available. Below are a few places worth the stay during your visit. (If you have the foresight to book super early.)

Tryp Cadiz La Caleta

Check into Tryp Cadiz La Caleta for great hospitality, restful sleep, and a scenic ocean view. Located on La Caleta Beach, near a strip of popular restaurants, you're not likely to get bored with the location. While you'll pay a premium for the ideal real estate, the friendly staff is dedicated to making it worth every penny.

Hotel Regio

If you prefer an accommodation away from the tourist beat of Old Town, but one that is still centrally located, look into Hotel Regio. It's still close to the ocean, but with slightly less spectacular views than Tryp Cadiz. If you're driving into town, this hotel is a great choice, as they offer parking in a nearby garage (be sure to request parking when booking your room). The hotel's room service is highly recommended on Tripadvisor, and they offer a bar/café area as a place to relax with a beverage of your choice.

El Rey Moro

For anyone who'd prefer to book accommodation in Seville, opting to take the train in and out of Cadiz during Carnival, El Rey Moro is a popular boutique hotel with lots of added value. Book directly with the hotel to enjoy a free guided tour and bicycle rental.

Bars and Restaurants

Balandro

Balandro is a popular restaurant in town that offers an exceptional experience at a reasonable price. Touting Mediterranean cuisine as their specialty, the brothers behind the restaurant have been cooking in the city since the 90's. With a seaside location, the restaurant affords guests a sweeping view of the ocean, while the chefs get their pick of the fresh catch brought in by the fishermen daily.

La Candela

It's often claimed that the best tapas in town are to be found at La Candela. The chefs use only fresh, seasonal ingredients, to cook up creative dishes (well worth the wait, if they don't have a table ready immediately). Word has spread, and the restaurant is now one of the most popular in town.

Gadisushi

If you are looking for a break from Spanish cuisine, enjoy some sushi at Gadisushi. Located across from the Old Town Mercado Central, and a stone's throw from the sea, it's a safe bet they're using fresh ingredients year round. Recommended dishes include the tuna tartar and the Cancun roll.

Things to do in Cadiz in February

Park Genoves

When the sun is shining and the weather is temperate head over to Park Genoves to enjoy a botanical history of Spanish exploration. Wide paths guide you through the lush and vibrant grounds, with information regarding the plant species on display. It's a tranquil and beautiful escape from the city streets, with artfully sculpted trees, and plenty park benches to sit and relax in a green setting near the sea.

La Vina

Another point of interest is the neighbourhood La Vina. The neighbourhood stands in a location where, centuries ago, there'd once been vineyards, a historical fact evident in the name (La Vina: The Vineyard). Part of the historic centre's 1st district, the area is dotted with many popular restaurants and cafés. If the February weather drops to a chilly low, stop into a café and warm up with a café de leche.
