February Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

February is a superb month to visit Bridgetown due to its warm weather, high levels of sunshine and lowest annual rainfall amount. The dry season is well under way and precipitation reaches only 28mm across 8 days of the month, meaning you are unlikely to see rain on a holiday to Bridgetown at this time of the year.

Instead, hot days and mild evenings make Bridgetown the perfect winter getaway. Temperatures are the same as January, reaching highs of 28°C (82°F) and averaging a warm 26°C (79°F) roughly 10°C higher than any European country at this time of the year. The evenings drop to a lovely 23°C (73°F) and humidity remains low so these temperatures should feel comfortable rather than sticky.

Sea temperatures stay at 27°C (80°F) in February, as they will do throughout the peak tourist season in Bridgetown. Prices may be more expensive at this time of year, but with 9 hours of daily sunshine it is worth it. Taking a trip to tropical Barbados in February is certainly one way of beating the winter blues!

Where to Stay

At Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados, the rooms are current and smooth with coffee shading furniture, shining white materials, work area with ergonomic seat, footstool, 42in TV, and the most recent in-room innovation. Holiday makers cherish the great white-sand shoreline and its perfectly clear water with soft waves and the hotel is also close to the Garrison Historic Area. In the meantime, businessmen discover the area (and meeting space) advantageous to Bridgetown. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus other snacks are available from the hotels two restaurants, Aquatic Club and Neptune's Grill. The hotel is near Carlisle Bay and beach.

Silver Point Hotel in the Christ Church area is 9.5 miles from Bridgetown and 10 minutes from the airport. The hotel overlooks Women's Bay and features a private deck, and an outdoor swimming pool. Public areas have free Wi-Fi, all the rooms have air conditioning, terrace or balcony, TV and bathroom with free toiletries. The restaurant which is on-site serves Caribbean food and guests can have their meals on the restaurant terrace.

Hit the Beach

Carlisle Bay is a most loved spot for snorkelling and scuba diving. The cove has 6 ship wrecks, which pull in an abundance of marine life, for example, tropical fish, octopus, sea horses, eels, rays and turtles. The wrecks are at depths of 12ft to 55ft. The quiet waters and delicate sandy beaches at Browne's Beach make Carlisle Bay the ideal spot for sunbathing and swimming. At Carlisle Bay's northern end is The Boatyard and this is where you can appreciate water sports including sea trampoline and jet skis.

Silver Sands Beach is perfect for sun seekers and windsurfers alike in the Christ Church area of Bridgetown. A strong breeze provides windsurfers with a challenging environment that will benefit beginners and up to the experienced level of windsurfer. The beach with its soft white sand will satisfy sun worshippers and the breeze will provide a cooling element from the sun's rays.

Eating & Drinking Out

Cuz's Fish Shack, one of the immense culinary delights of Barbados is a "cutter," a salt-bread bun loaded with egg, cheese, flying fish, ham or pork and after that cut down the middle. Some say that is the root of the name, others say this is on the grounds that it "cuts" your yearning. Whatever story you run with, this Bridgetown area is the best place to try one. It truly is only a shack, open from 9-5 every day and there's generally a queue which is merited. The effortlessness of the peppery breading on the marlin sandwich, consolidated with a sprinkle of vinegar and some lively pickles make it one of the best snacks on the island.

Coffee Barbados Cafe, if you need the best coffee around the local area and a piece of gluten free cake, you've discovered the perfect spot. This is a wonderful coffeehouse inside the grounds of George Washington House at The Garrison. It is an impeccable venue for breakfast or lunch. There is seating outside and inside, the stylistic layout is perfect, crisp and the smells are heavenly. The staff are warm and amicable as well and the breakfast menu is exceptionally enticing.

Things to Do

Cricket Legends Museum pays homage to the national sport of Barbados, which is cricket. The museum covers the sport from the earliest days when the British brought the game with them and up to the modern era. The museum is filled with autographed bats, uniforms and memorabilia from the early 1990's onwards.

The Statue of Sir Garfield Sobers memorialises the legendary cricketer of Barbados who made 8,032 runs in 93 matches including 365 not-outs. His contribution to the world of cricket earned him a knighthood from the Queen.

Garrison Savannah area is around 2km south of Bridgetown city centre and inland from Carlisle Bay, the Garrison is a piece of the World Heritage zone and was home to the British government in the 1800s. At the centre is the Savannah, an oval-shaped former parade ground which is now used for cricket, horse races on a Saturday and jogging. Also at the Savannah are some of the more ornate buildings within the Garrison and the world's biggest collection of 17th century cannons.

Needhams Point Lighthouse built in 1855 is the second oldest lighthouse on Barbados and once protected ships around the south coast of the island, today it is part of Hilton Barbados Resort and its grounds.

St. Michael's Cathedral is the main Anglican place of worship in Bridgetown and was completed in 1665, the original cathedral was destroyed by a hurricane and was replaced in 1789. The stone and wood cathedral with stained glass is available for tours and is a beautiful place to visit.

The neo-gothic Parliament buildings were constructed in 1871 and are situated near National Heroes Square. The clock tower on the west side contains buildings for public offices and the east side has the Senate, plus the House of Assembly. The buildings also feature a museum.
