Temperature

January can be cold in Bermuda, but still warmer than many European destinations such as Lisbon, Portugal, with average day time temperatures here at around 19°C. This is made up of average high and low temperatures of between 17°C overnight and a mild 21°C during the day. This is a pleasant time of year to visit for those who are looking to explore the island without the uncomfortable heat and humidity, as days are often mild and ideal for outdoor activities. On the coldest recorded January day the temperature dropped to a low of 8°C while the warmest temperature on record in this month was a lovely 25°C.

The food is Mediterranean and includes locally caught fish and seafood and delicious meats and salads. There is a private area that accommodates up to 14 people for a private party in the Wine Dining Room.

Little Venice

Located in Hamilton city and ideal for families or couples is the Little Venice Italian restaurant. The staff are friendly and efficient and the venue has a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. This is a favourite with locals as well as tourists and the Italian cuisine is authentic and delicious. There are also Bermudian options on the menu and a great selection of fish and seafood dishes with fantastic seafood chowder. This is a lovely choice for warming up on cooler January evenings.

Tempest Bistro

The Tempest Bistro restaurant in St Georges is a lovely place to eat in a beautiful location. The venue serves lunch and dinner as well as an extensive wine list, cocktails and beers. On offer are meat and fish dishes, salads as well as deserts. This is a relaxed and friendly restaurant with a cosy and quaint atmosphere. There are occasional wine tasting evenings and other events that take place so make sure to visit this restaurant during your visit in the winter months. 

Things to do in Bermuda in January

The Bermuda Festival

The Bermuda Festival runs from January to March each year and features talented performers from around the world. Acts include singers and bands, orchestras, theatre performances, dance and many other fantastic artists to gather here to entertain and amaze locals and tourists.

Bermuda National Trust Museum

When the weather is cooler in January, it is a good time to head to the Bermuda National Trust museum at St Georges. This museum is housed in the Globe Hotel, one of the oldest stone buildings in Bermuda, dating back to around 1700. The permanent exhibit upstairs features information about Bermuda and the American Civil War (1861-1865) and the building was the site of the offices of the Confederate agent Major Norman Walker during that period. A video presentation shows the story of Bermuda in this period with paintings and documents also on display.
