    What's the weather like in Bermuda in April?

    Humidity and Sunshine Hours

    April is one of the best months to visit if you want to experience all the beautiful sunshine of Bermuda without the high humidity, large crowds or risk of severe storms. This is the start of the high tourist season and the first cruise ships are arriving. Humidity is usually between 60% and 85%, which is still comfortable when you take into account the winds and air temperature. The days are getting longer with about 50 minutes increase in the length of each day from the start of April to the end of the month. With around 8 hours of sunshine each day, days are becoming brighter and sunnier. The sun rises at around 6.45 am and sets at 7.50pm during this month making it a good time to start enjoying the longer evenings outdoors.


    The average daytime temperature now is 20°C made up of highs and lows of 22°C and 18°C. This is similar to Port el Kantaoui in Tunisia. This makes it a beautiful month to enjoy some outdoor activities, but water sports are still only for the bravest as sea temperatures are still a cool 20°C. Locals do not generally start swimming until June when the sea temperature increases. However, if you have a wetsuit or are planning to stay on board a boat and not get in the water, this is a lovely time of year to get out and about in Bermuda. The highest recorded temperature in this month was a hot 27°C but the lowest was a chilly 9°C. When deciding what to bring for your holiday in April, make sure you look at the forecast beforehand so you can make the most of your visit.

    Rainfall and Wind

    April is another wet month and average rainfall is 130mm falling over 14 days during the month, so there is almost a 50% chance of seeing rain at some time during a holiday at this time of year. Moderate or light rain showers are the most common forms of precipitation now. Median cloud cover ranges from 75% to 80% over the course of the month with the trend being for skies to clear gradually over the month. Wind is most often out of a southerly direction and tends to be between 5 mph and 19 mph, which is a light to fresh breeze.

    The Hog Penny pub is a good spot for a relaxed drink or two with friends in an English style pub when visiting in April if the days are cool and wet. On offer are a great range of drinks including cocktails and local beers, and the pub style menu has a wide selection including fish and chips, chicken pies and Indian curries. The pub has live music and entertainment some evenings and is worth checking out if you are staying in Hamilton during your visit to Bermuda.

    When the weather is pleasant and the sun is shining on clearer April days, head to the Dining Room at Gibbs Hill Lighthouse for a delicious meal and tasty cocktails overlooking the sea. The views are spectaular from this vantage point and the fast and friendly service makes this a special treat while visiting Bermuda. It is only a small restaurant so tables can get booked up quickly and it is best to make a reservation. Dishes include seafood, fish, pizza and meats and there is a good selection of wines to suit all the dishes. Enjoy lunch here or wait until the evening and watch the sun set over the water for a romantic evening out.

    Devils Isle restaurant is situated in Hamilton and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This venue has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and is perfect for meeting up with friends or for a quiet drink and a bite to eat. It is a popular restaurant that serves full meals or tapas style dishes if you can't decide what to order. The bar serves beers, wine and there is a choice of indoor or outdoor seating depending on the early summer weather.

Climb the 185 steps to the top to look at the stunning views of the island and the sea then head into the gift shop and tearoom to rest and have a relaxing drink or the restaurant at the bottom of the hill for a long lunch or dinner.
