The Torre Bermeja  is a sunny beach in western Benalmadena that has recently become very popular with families with children and large groups of tourists. The beach features very good lifeguard services along with a number of convenient facilities including cheap sun loungers, changing rooms, showers (free) a playground and more.

Popular and scenic, the beach underneath Bil-Bil castle makes for the ideal backdrop for water sports such as jet skiing, banana boating, paragliding and water skiing for the whole family. This is a very popular beach among young tourists who come here for the fun and accessible water-based games.

Casa Rafael is one of the most popular tapas restaurants in Benalmadena and one that attracts tourists and locals from all across Costa del Sol with its authentic tasty food and generous portions. The restaurant offers incredible food at very low prices and is known for its friendly and prompt service, too. The shellfish dishes here are superb and full of flavour, including prawns, mussels, oysters and scallops.

Focusing on bold flavours, Sopranos is a wonderful European restaurant in Benalmadena's Calle Ronda. The food here is excellently cooked and combines unusual flavour combinations with fantastic culinary methods. Try the steak dishes here served with grilled tomato and zingy onion rings, as well as the salmon in creamy, herb sauce served with delicious vegetables.

Affordable and family friendly, the Blue Lamp is a British restaurant located on Las Palmeras avenue. This family run restaurant serves inexpensive food and generous portions without skimping on quality. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is owned by a couple of British expats who know how to make a tourist feel at home.

Restaurante La Nina is a Spanish themed eatery with a laid-back, family friendly atmosphere and an impressively large menu. The restaurant serves fresh food, cooked from local ingredients, while its kitchen draws upon the great cuisines of the world to create interesting and unusual culinary delights.

Located next to Benalmadena's marina, Palm 5 Beach Bar is a chic beachside bar that attracts stylish tourists and locals alike. This is a classy joint with prices to match.

Low-key and open until after midnight, the Any Time Bar is a popular British bar with well-priced drinks, good music and an atmosphere to match. The Anytime organises various events and charitable fundraisers along with music shows and themed nights, so there's always something fun going on.  

Mombasa is Benalmadena's oldest and most widely known disco. Still going strong thanks to a roll call of timeless classic hits from the 70s and 80s, Mombasa is 'where it's been at' for three decades now, so it must be doing something right!

Things to do in Benalmadena in September

The Sea Life Aquarium is a marine themed water park, a marine life zoo and a real animal reserve all in one that is a must to visit by nature lovers and kids of all ages while visiting Benalmadena. Here you will get your chance to examine numerous local marine species up close including rare species of fish and various aquatic mammals.

The 9 hole mini golf course at the Sea Life Aquarium is another fantastic idea for families with kids, and you can save money by buying a multi ticket to visit the aquarium and golf course in the same day!

Tivoli World is fantastic for a fun packed day for the entire family with over 40 attractions to explore. These include rollercoasters, a giant ferris wheel, haunted mansion ride, bumper cars, go karts and a whole host of other rides, shops, kiosks and restaurants.

Popular with young and old alike, Discover Sailing is a well established sailing company that offers sailing lessons and trips across Costa del Sol to tourists of all ages. Sailing is made easy here thanks to the friendly trainers, all of whom are very fluent in English and always eager to help newbies learn the ins and outs of sailing.

An event called Arabian Souk takes place around the second weekend of September in Benalmadena Pueblo. A large, vibrant Arab market situated on Calle Real brings Arabian music, tents, crafts, storytelling, dance, theatre, workshops and games for all ages to town.
