Banjul Weather February Averages, Gambia
Banjul in February is hot. Humidity is at a high
level with maximum daytime temperature at 330 C and 1 mm rainfall
for the entire month. This would be the perfect time to take that cruise
along the waterways of Oyster Creek in a pirogue. The
creek has a dense mangrove and is home to a variety of fish. For this
excursion there are organized trips, either a Bird and Breakfast
Excursion or a Sunset Cruise, both of which almost always ends up at the Lamin Lodge for a
continuation of the entertainment. The boat ride should cost no more than
about £6.33 round trip for six passengers. However, for the lone ranger
tourist a private boat may be hired at the Denton Bridge
which may cost at £2.10 per hour.
As for food, the Lamin Lodge offers buffet seafood at a reasonable price. Sometimes the boat excursions already include the package meals at the Lamin Lodge so be sure to ask your tour guide about this. If you would like more freedom in choosing your food at a cheaper price, breakfast can be eaten at the ferry terminal before embarking on your tour. Skewered beef on fresh rolls with sweet coffee is highly recommended.
A cheap accommodation is the Princess Diana Hotel, which costs £12 a night. Fans and air-conditioning are optional so be sure to specifically request for one when making your reservation. The hotel is located at Independence Drive, close to the entrance of Banjul. If you are booked in this hotel might as well take the time to visit the 35 meters high Arch 22 which from the top floor terrace gives you a panoramic view of the city. The Arch was built in commemoration of the military coup d' etat on July 22, 1994.
