Avignon Weather August Averages, France

    Avignon Weather for August 2021

The preserved historical centre of Avignon, France, is one of the biggest draws of the city. Avignon incorporates a great deal of important French history into its walls, and yet still manages to keep tourism diverse with a wonderful blend of old and new and, of course, the stunning Mediterranean climate.

The weather in Avignon in August is some of the nicest of the year, with temperatures ranging from around 16 degrees Celsius overnight to a toasty 31 degrees during the day. It's generally quite sunny in the city during the summer, although there can be a few summery showers and there's expected to be around 46 mm of rainfall across the month.

For anyone with an interest in nature and natural sciences, the Museum Requien is well worth a look round. There's a huge collection here of fossils, rocks and shells as well as preserved animal bones which makes it an intriguing place for kids. There are also rotating exhibitions looking at the likes of crystals and brown bears. Best of all, it's completely free!

Those looking to experience Avignon's modern side can spend an evening at the AJMI Jazz Club. Not only is there live music every night, there's also a number of workshops and master classes for those interested in learning more about the genre which are run throughout the summer months.

The 3* Bristol Hotel combines the old and new to create a welcoming environment. Rooms cost from £55 per night and are located right in the centre of the city within easy walking distance of the major attractions, restaurants and bars. There's air conditioning in each room, so the warm southern France heats shouldn't be a problem.
