Things to do in Athens in June

An agora was the central meeting point in ancient Greek city-states and where the townspeople would gather for events. The Ancient Agora of Athens was just that, the central point of ancient Athens. The agora was first built in either the 6th or 7th centuries BC and was damaged and rebuilt many times over the years during invasions by both the Persians and later the Heruli. Much of the agora lay buried until archeologists began excavating the area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Excavations are ongoing, but the ruins can be visited for an entrance fee of 4, and is open daily from 8 AM to 3 PM. The agora is about a 14 minute walk from the city centre.

The Athens War Museum was founded in 1964 to honor those who fought for Greece and is also home to military artifacts for display. They also have temporary exhibitions that focus on things like the National Revolution and the 1821 Greek War of Independence, as well as covering more "modern" battles, like World War II. They are open every day except Monday from 9 AM to 7 PM and admission is 3. The museum is about a 16 minute walk from the city centre.
