What's the Weather Like in Aruba in January

Temperature

January is a great month for Aruba, even though we are in the heart of the northern hemisphere winter. Like the rest of the year, the climate is hot all month long. You will see an average daily temperature of 27°C, which equates to highs of 29°C and lows of 24°C. It is definitely sunscreen weather, and you will want to ensure that your skin is protected at all times. If you ever needed an illustration of how fantastic the climate is in Aruba, it has to be the fact that despite those amazing figures above this is in fact the coldest month of the year

Rain

We are in the rainy season at this time of year, but that does not mean that you will see a torrential downpour every day. Only 60mm is going to fall on average throughout the month, and it will be spread out over 12 days. This means that when the rain does come, it does not last for long. You won't need to be checking the weather forecast constantly in order to check when it is coming, but you will want to get a general idea of which days will be wet so that you can plan your daily activities accordingly. If it seems like it will be too wet for your preferences, then delay your visit until March, when the amount of rainfall through the month is reduced to just 10mm.

Sea Temperature

As for the sea, this is a great place to swim even in the winter months. The beaches will be crowded thanks to the average sea temperature of 27°C. It can be somewhat windy here however, so watch out for warning flags and do not venture too far out into the water if it seems choppy, but it'll be more choppy north of the island in Arasaji.

Hotels in Aruba in January

La Quinta Beach Resort

Just because it is January, doesn't mean that you can't stay by the beach. La Quinta Beach Resort is a great resort which offers plenty of facilities to make your stay more enjoyable. These include two saltwater pools, a restaurant and bar, cabanas and tents on the beach, an internet café as well as WiFi, and even complimentary towels for the beach.

The Casa Del Mar Beach Resort

The Casa Del Mar Beach Resort is nearby and also offers a great opportunity to sample the beach. You can even see what their area of the beach looks like through a webcam on their website! Their facilities include a small shopping mall, a water sports and tour booking desk, massage facilities, two large swimming pools, Jacuzzis, children's playground and activity centre, a gym, tennis courts, and even a babysitting service.

Costa Linda Beach Resort

You could also try the Costa Linda Beach Resort. They have pools for adults and kids, Jacuzzis, a fitness centre, a spa and salon, tennis courts, a gift shop, and much more. In short, when you stay in Aruba, you can be sure that you will find all of the amenities that you need!

Hit the Beach

Andicuri Beach

When the sea hits temperatures of 27°C, you don't have any excuse for staying out of the water. There are some beautiful beaches in the region that you absolutely have to explore. Andicuri Beach is one of these, where body board lovers will delight in perfect waters. Looming, dramatic bluffs enclose a more private beach area here, and you can travel just a little further to see Black Stone Beach, where swimming is dangerous but you will see a triple-arch natural bridge made from limestone.

Arashi Beach

Arashi Beach is a quiet area which is favoured by locals, with makeshift huts and gentle currents. If you want to go snorkelling, you will find an abundance of underwater life to discover here. From here you can follow a winding road which leads to the California Lighthouse. Blue seas and white sands make this a perfect escape.

Bars and Restaurants

The Que Pasa Restaurant Bar & Art Gallery

The Que Pasa Restaurant Bar & Art Gallery certainly offers a different experience. Not only does the food look like art, but you can also explore more in the gallery! They focus on delivering a wide array of cuisines, with influences which include Dutch, Italian, Caribbean, Mexican, Belgian, and Japanese and they aim to continue growing this list. A well-stocked bar means you can stay and enjoy the atmosphere after you finish eating.

Papillon Restaurant

For French cuisine, head for Papillon Restaurant. Strangely enough, this restaurant is based around Henri Charriere, a prisoner who famously spent 13 years imprisoned in Devil's Island before escaping. The décor, menus, and the whole theme are focused on him, including rusty iron bars brought in specifically for this purpose.

Pinchos Grill & Bar

Pinchos Grill & Bar is where you will find seafood delivered with local flair. With a scenic location right out on the water, this place feels magical. A full roster of meat and seafood is paired up with champagnes, red, white, and rose wines. Though a little on the more expensive side, these dishes are made with the finest ingredients and served on large plates.

Things to Do in Aruba in January

The Ayo and Casibari Rock Formations

January is a little cooler, so that makes it the perfect time to explore the island without getting sunstroke. The Ayo and Casibari Rock Formations is a must-see. These monolithic boulders used to be an important place for the Arawak people, early settlers on the island, and you can see their rock paintings today. The Casibari formations are amongst the most striking.

Gold Mine Ranch

You can also explore the Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins. This was once the mill that processed gold ore from mines in the surrounding hills, during the gold rush that happened here in the 19th century. If you want to explore the area in style, try one of the Gold Mine Ranch horse riding tours. They all take around two hours to complete, and you have some great locations to admire, along with free water bottles and safety equipment for the ride.

Trikes Aruba

For a different kind of ride, check out Trikes Aruba. They call it the best way to see the island! A trike is a mixture of a motorcycle with a car, so you don't need a license to drive them and they are very comfortable. You get a three hour tour which takes in some of the most exciting sights on the island.
