Antalya Hotels in June
Situated in the nearby Alanya, the Long Beach Resort Hotel & Spa is less crowded than many within Antalya and slightly less expensive. This luxurious hotel is popular with Russian and German tourists, but many hotels are. Other than the large amount of tourists that do not speak English, this hotel caters to parties of all ages and activity levels including children or people with mobility issues. And like many hotels in the area, the Long Beach Resort has access to a beach and a spa and bar within its grounds.
Located in the city of Beldibi, the Selcukhan Hotel is a less-frequented by lovely hotel. This modern and luxurious option has spectacular views of the surrounding mountains in the area. But best of all, because this hotel is not located in one of the large cities in the region, the rates will be slightly lower than those in Antalya.
For a contrast against the modern or old-fashioned all-inclusive resorts, there is the Puding Suite. This hotel is traditionally Turkish in its design and architecture. Located in downtown Antalya or in the Kaleici, this hotel will immerse you in Turkish culture rather than view it from afar or on a stage.
Close to downtown Antalya and a number of other attractions, the Rixos Downtown Antalya is popular with active tourists. The quick access to the Kaleici neighbourhood, an aqua park and public transportation is one of the best features of this resort. You won't be stuck on the outskirts of town and need to rely on taxis.
Arguably difficult to find, the Tuvana Hotel is also a change of pace from the conventional all-inclusive resorts in the area. This former manor is located in the heart of Antalya and once hosted imperial visits in the 18th century. The interior is opulently decorated like it must have been centuries ago. If you are a history buff or enjoy the finer things in life, this hotel was designed with you in mind.
Bars and Restaurants
There is no better place to eat Turkish food than in the Old Town area of Antalya. The Yemenli Restaurant is a new addition to the culinary scene after it opened its doors in 2010. This restaurant offers Mediterranean food with local grilled meats, fresh caught fish and a range of pasta dishes. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and a full-service bar to enjoy. The restaurant is located within a remodelled, charming, historic building.
For a taste of something more familiar, the Kanatci Ali Asker serves some of the best chicken wings in the area. Of course, the chicken wings here are not necessarily the ones you're used to at home. These ones are available in mild or spicy and served outdoors in a beautiful courtyard with a variety of sides. Local musicians often play in the courtyard in the evenings so you can enjoy dinner and a show.
For a cold pint or cocktail at the end of the day, the Jolly Joker Saloon is a quirky and fun establishment. This colourful bar has entertainment that you might not associate with a saloon. The Jolly Joker has bands that perform on select days and you can check their frequently updated website to get the latest. There is also a shop in case you'd like to suppose the bar or the bands with your patronage.
Things to do in Antalya in June
Lara Beach is a must for anyone holidaying in Antalya, especially in the summer months. This long stretch of beach is considered the best in the area due to its fine sand and bright, turquoise waters. There are countless resorts that sit along this beach but you do not have to be a guest at one to enjoy this destination.
If you'd like to golf when on holiday, Antalya has some of the best courses in Europe. The Antalya Golf Club is considered one of the finest. This course was designed by professional golfer, David Jones, and a European golf firm. There are numerous courses for you to choose from in this Golf Club. Whether you're a novice golfer or more experienced, there is an appropriate golf course for your skill level.
Animal lovers and children in tow? A trip to Sealanya may be in order. This park overlooking the shores of the Mediterranean has lagoons where these dolphins play football, leap and perform trips alongside sea lions. Of course, you and your party can get pictures taken with the animals for a small fee.
No trip to Turkey would be complete without a trip to a Turkish bath like Sefa Hamami. This Turkish bath is built in the traditional style but with modern amenities. There are rooms of various temperatures and functions like a cold room, moist-hot room, steam bath and boiler room. Each of these rooms serves a different medicinal or therapeutic purpose. Of course, you can ask your hotel staff for a Turkish bath that they would recommend that may be closer to your hotel.
Dates for the diary
For the culture aficionados, Antalya hosts the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival in June. Just outside the city, this festival celebrates operatic song and ballet dancing. The festival draws in talented performers from across the world to its 20,000 person amphitheatre. If you are in the area during this time, consider getting tickets to a performance as it will be hard to replicate this experience anywhere else.
Starting in June, the International Antalya Sand Festival kicks off as well. It is the largest sand festival in the world and it lasts through November. During this time, artists congregate on the beaches near Antalya to create elaborate and beautiful sand sculptures. A trip to one of the festival areas will certainly yield to interesting stories and photographs from your Antalya holiday.
