September Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the weather like in Altinkum in September

Whilst still classed as summer, September is a slightly different picture to the previous couple of months. This is a great time weather-wise for those who still enjoy high temperatures, but not to the degree of July and August, and there is much less in the way of crowds as the month wears on.

Temperature

Altinkum sees an average temperature of around 20°C at this time of year, however it is much more likely to hit the mid-20s, with an average high temperature of up to 23°C; although the beginning of the month will be much warmer than the end. In terms of evening temperatures, you can still expect a mild time during the night, with an average low of around 16°C; whilst you might need a thin cardigan for evening walks, this is still warm indeed.

Sea Temperature

There isn't much difference in terms of time on the beach as the summer season comes to an end, as the average water temperature is still holding steady at a very warm 24°C, so water-sports are ever popular. Diving is also a very popular activity, as this part of the region is said to have some of the best waters for visibility and marine-life.

Sunshine Hours

If you're a little worried about the close of the summer season, which is still a few weeks off yet, there is no cause for concern as the sun still certainly shines in abundance, averaging around 11 hours of sunshine per day throughout the month.

Rainfall

The only difference you may see is that it is more likely to rain slightly now, compared to previously. Whilst this isn't a huge amount of precipitation by any means, you may see around 20mm of rain throughout the whole month, which generally only affects around 3 days on average hardly anything at all.

Basically, this is the ideal month for those who want to avoid crowds and still grab a late summer deal, with fantastic weather before the start of autumn. Checking the local forecast is always recommended though.

Altinkum Beaches in September

Now the quieter part of the season has arrived, hotels aren't as busy as the previous couple of months. September is a wonderful time to enjoy great weather and a quieter atmosphere, yet it is still a good idea to be close to the centre of town, to cut down on travel. Evren Hotel is located just 170m from the beach, and a very short walk to the resort centre. The large pool is great for those warm, sunny days, and accommodation is certainly comfortable.

Sea Bird Hotel is another great choice, where you can also opt for a half board holiday. Situated right on the beach, everything is within walking distance, with many on-site facilities to make your stay go without a hitch.

Alternatively, Duman Hotel will give you a very comfortable and chilled-out base for your break. You can choose to go half board or simply B&B, with a large swimming pool, dedicated children's pool, and on-site restaurant. Again, this is close to the beach.

Altinkum Beaches for September

September is the ideal time to enjoy beach time in a more tranquil environment, as the season slowly begins to wind down. Sahte Cennet Beach Club is located between Altinkum and Didim, and offers a serene setting for your day's sun-worshipping. This is a private beach club so you will have to pay for food and drinks to be allowed admittance, but it is a completely relaxing day out.

Bars and Restaurants

A chilled out evening is just the ticket for your holiday, without the neon lights and party atmosphere for just one night at least. Café Del Mar ticks those boxes, giving you a laid-back place to head for a delicious meal. This is a great choice for a romantic meal, or perhaps simply for those wanting to enjoy the scenery and sip a few cocktails.

Roka Restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere, but not overly loud, which is a great piece of middle ground. The food here is fantastic and it is a very popular restaurant. The same can also be said for Rehab Bar, which has live music, a chilled-out vibe, and a great choice of wines on offer.

Things to do in Altinkum in September

Now the temperatures are beginning to cool down, September is the ideal time to travel around the resort, and see some of the other sights, away from Altinkum itself. This is a great way to not only have a wonderful experience in the resort, but also enrich your time by seeing other things the best of both worlds!

The popular and large resort of Marmaris is only 2 and a half hours away, and buses head there regularly throughout the summer. Marmaris is linked to its neighbouring resort of Icmeler, which is a very pretty, albeit small, resort to visit too. Marmaris has a large castle, with stunning views across the arc of its beach, leading into Icmeler, and out over the sea. There is also a large and traditional bazaar, where you can haggle for goods, such as clothing, jewellery, bags, and purses, for example. The marina is also very picturesque, and perfect for a refreshing drink and perhaps a seafood dish from the plentiful seafood restaurants.

Because Altinkum is in such close proximity to Marmaris, that also means you can head to another Greek island during your Turkish adventure, with ferries heading over to the large and beautiful Greek island of Rhodes. Again, tour operators will arrange this for you, or you can head to the port itself and book your ticket. Rhodes is a wonderful island, especially the Old Town, and although this will be a tiring day out, it is entirely possible to do within the space of a day, albeit with an early start!

Another nearby attraction, and certainly something totally different, is the natural wonder of Pamukkale. This is around three hours away from Altinkum, and this is the ideal time to visit, as the crowds are less and the temperatures are lower. Known locally as 'cotton castle', Pamukkale is a strange and beautiful sight, literally a cliff with countless ledges, bright white in colour. This is a mineral bath, with hot calcium waters from the earth, which cool to form the white, hard exterior you see. The Roman spa city of Hierapolis sits at the foot of this attraction, and is a fantastic site to explore.
