    Things to do in Ailcante in March

    Castillo de Santa Barbara

    The Castillo de Santa Barbara, right in the centre of Alicante, is one of the biggest medieval fortresses in Spain. It's an important landmark in the city, and, sitting atop Mount Benacantil, has fabulous views. Look up at it from El Postiguet beach, and you'll see a strange projected part of the building, like the shape of a human face, known as 'the Moor's Head'. The castle was built in the 12th century work by Muslim geographer Al-Idrisi. It was designed to fortify the Spanish city and surrounding area and has withstood many sieges and battles. Not to mention that, up until the 18th century, it was still occasionally used as a prison. The Castle was opened to the public in 1963.

    The Museum of the City of Alicante

    The Museum of the City of Alicante (MUSA), inside the Castillo de Santa Barbara, introduces visitors to various Spanish quests through different historical periods. Displays include archaeological materials, sculptures and busts of famous Spanish men and women.
