Beaches for June for Algarve
June is quite a good time of year to head for the beach in the Algarve, as the weather is very reliable, while not quite as hot as in July and August, while the main influx of tourists does not happen until July and August.
Meia Praia
At Lagos is a large beach, MeiaPraia, which offers water sports opportunities and is also adjacent to numerous restaurants, so it should serve a wide range of tastes, and it is also a blue flag beach.
Praia de Amoreira
Near Aljezur, is good for surfing and fishing, although fishing is restricted on some days of the week.
This beach is particularly popular for tourists and locals who want to escape mass tourism.
However, the area around here is pretty deserted, as there are no shops or toilets in close proximity.
Tavira Island
Another option to think of is Tavira Island , which is located just south of the town of Tavira. Tavira boasts some of the most gorgeous beaches in the Algarve and a small number of them even cater towards naturists.
Restaurants and Bars for Algarve in June
Burgers & Bowls
Restaurants are numerous in the Algarve, and there are options catering for a large majority of tastes, many of which are also reasonably priced. For a British-style option, the Burgers & Bowls at Av. 5 Outubro no. 360, Almancil sells a range of snacks and pub food, and is particularly well-regarded for its burgers.
Zu Yi
There are some good Asian-themed restaurants including Zu Yi situated at Marina Plaza, Vilamoura, which is a Chinese restaurant which offers good views over the sea.
Albufeira Old Town Bars
The Albufeira Old Town has many bars, some of which sell wines and cocktails, and some of which have TVs that show coverage of major sporting events. Many of the bars also offer musical entertainment during the evenings, including karaoke sessions. While many of the bars shut during the winter months, during June most, if not all, of the bars should be open.
Things to Do in Algarve in June
Quad Tours
June is a good time of year to try a trip around the Algarve on a buggy or quad bike. There are numerous good quad biking trip operators in the Algarve, including QuadVentura, Rooster Quad Day Tours (based at Santa Barbara de Nexe, Faro) and Hugo Quad bike Adventures, which provides free transport from Albufeira. All three offer a wide range of quad biking tours that are well-received by customers, though note that drivers of quad bikes will need to possess and bring a full driving licence.
Bulldog Buggies
For those who would prefer to tour the Algarve countryside in buggies, rather than quad bikes, a good option is Bulldog Buggies based in Silves, which offers a similar range of tours to QuadVentura, but using 500cc buggies.
Balalia Golf Village
There are some good sporting centres in the Algarve. For golfers who fancy something a bit different, the Balalia Golf Village at Sitio da Balaia, Apartado 917, Albufeira has a range of sporting facilities in addition to a challenging 9-hole golf course and driving range. There is a gym, a pool, jacuzzi, steam room, 4 tennis courts, and chipping and putting areas, and attractive surroundings (the nearby beaches are just 400km away) so there should be something to cater for most tastes. The main downside of this golf village is that some of the activities can be expensive for outsiders (i.e. those not using the resort for accommodation).
Vilamoura Tennis Centre
The Vilamoura Tennis Centre is another good sporting centre to try, located at Avenida Engenheiro Joao Meireles, Vilamoura. It is primarily a tennis resort, but also is ideally placed for good access to the various golf courses in Vilamoura. There is an on-site restaurant with outdoor areas, a play area oriented towards children, and various mini tennis courts too.
