June Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

Weather Lowdown

AlanyaTurkey has two distinct seasons--winter and summer. Although May brings rising temperatures and longer days, June is the official start of the summer. Temperatures soar while rainfall drops to nearly nothing. The days are long enough to take in all kinds of summer fun before the sunsets and the exciting nightlife begins.

The average temperature is about 25°C (77°F), reaching a high of around 27°C (81°F) and low of 18°C (64°F).

There are about 14 hours of average daily sunshine, which stays fairly constant throughout the month. The shortest day of the month is June 1 with 14:32 hours of sunlight, and the longest day is June 21 with 14:42 hours.

The average sea temperature in June is about 24°C (75°F)--so be sure to pack your swimming gear as the water's perfect.

You can expect to experience rain on an average of 6 days in June. The average monthly rainfall measures around 8mm. Each day there is about 11% chance of precipitation, with slightly greater chance earlier in the month. Rainfall typically manifests as light rain or the occasional thunderstorm.

The skies above Alanya in June are typically mostly clear or partly cloudy. Humidity ranges from comfortable (31%) to very humid (84%). Daily wind speeds vary from light air to moderate breeze. Winds typically blow in from the north or northwest, though sometimes from the south.

Over the course of June, average temperatures rise. At the beginning of the month, the average is about 23°C (73°F), with highs of 29°C (84°F) and lows of 18°C (64°F). By that end of the month, highs can reach as much as 34°C (93°F), and averages 26°C (79°F).

Where to Stay

Hotel Blue Sky is a lodging option with an all-inclusive package that guests particularly enjoy because of the extremely high quality of the food, the lovely room accommodations and the affordability of the package. In addition to the exceptional quality of the food, the hotel's restaurant boasts a unique location on the top floor of the hotel, giving the guests the extra benefit of a view overlooking the hills or the evening sunset while enjoying their meals. The selection of drinks on the all-inclusive plan is much better, according to previous guests, than other hotels and there is always plenty of delicious food to go around.

The hotel has two lifts (some Turkish hotels have none) to make arrival and departure with luggage quite easy. Another convenient amenity the hotel offers is free Wi-Fi service. It is just a short distance to the main part of town, making shopping or dining out easy as well.

The hotel faces the beach which is a major factor for many when choosing a hotel. Getting to the beach only requires a walk across the street and the hotel has a mini-bar right on the beach. The pool is nice but small, so many choose to spend time on the beach. Either is a fine choice.

Hit the Beach

The star of Alanya is Cleopatra Beach, a long stretch of sand where the Egyptian queen is said to have swam. Another option for holiday-makers is Damlatas Beach, located just in front of the eponymous cave. Visitors who enjoy hiking can walk from the beach to Fosforlu Magra, Phosphorous Cave.

Eating & Drinking Out

Club Arma is a great example of the nightlife that Alanya has to offer. The food and the service are excellent, and, as an added bonus, the wine is made just a few blocks away. For a romantic getaway, the terrace can't be beaten with its soft candlelight and beautiful views of the harbour at Kaleici.

Piccaso Restaurant offers great food and service, with space to dance on weekend nights. Cocktails are plentiful but note that the wine here is expensive. Inside is Pelle Picasso textile centre where you can shop for some traditional clothing.

Cello Turku Bar Alanya is the place to visit for live Turkish music, located right in the harbour. The ambiance is cosy and the food delicious--but the band is the main reason to drop by here.

Things to Do

No one can argue that Turkey is rich with tourist-friendly sites and attractions. One of these is Hadrian's Gate. Tourists can walk down the main street and view authentic Roman columns that were once the ornamental entryway into the city.

By Damlatas in Alanya's centre is a large water park with a variety of slides to suit all age groups. There are large, fast-paced roller coasters that are best suited for the older visitors, but there are also quieter and smaller coasters that are well suited to smaller children. Try a free fall that goes really fast, or borrow a rubber boat and take two together through a flooded runway.
