The weather reflects what is expected of a Greek island: warm temperatures from sunny days; yet not too hot, and slightly cooler, comfortable evenings. The seas have warmed and are ideal for swimming and boating.
Zante June weather in brings improving temperatures from the previous month. The average temperatures are 23º C (73ºF) with an average high of 28º C (82ºF) and average low of 18ºC (64ºF. The June 1st record temperatures were 30ºC (86ºF) and low of 11.6ºC (53ºF). The dew point, a better measure of comfort per person, feels like, on average, 18ºC (61ºF), considered comfortable and not yet humid. The beautiful and professionally designed courses include landscaped gardens, ponds, rivers, waterfalls, fountains and even an erupting volcano. Leave from the port of Zakynthos Town on the cruise boat Delefini for a tour around the island of Zante. Travel along the beaches of Tsilivi, St Nicholas with a stop at the Blue Caves, then on to that Shipwreck at Navagio where you will enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The tour continues to the fishing village of Porto Vromi before proceeding to the Dolphin caves where the boat enters the cavern. After swimming in the caves of Keri and Oasi beach, continue to the bay of Laganas to view the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle before arriving at Mavratzi beach. Hit The Beach
The main beach at Tsilivi is one of the most popular destinations since it is close the the major resorts.
It favors mostly British and Italian visitors. The beach is sandy, family friendly and has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available. Rent a boat or jet sky from one of the many water sport centres. Restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and shops, suitable for all budgets, are located nearby.
Located 3 miles south of Zakynthos town, is the popular beach at Argassi. There are many resorts and accommodations nearby and taverns, restaurants, and shops are plentiful. It is also a sandy beach that is family friendly and offers plenty of sun beds, umbrellas, and boat and jet sky rentals.
Where to Eat & Drink
The Sizzlebang Grill, located at the resort of Laganas, on the road to Kalamaki, is a gyros grill house. It also includes a fresh pizza made from your selected ingredients, roasted chicken, hamburgers, and souvlaki. It is known for its chicken wraps and chips and even serves an English breakfast with tea.
The Drunk Corner bar in Zakynthos, serves both local and imported beers on draught, plus an extensive choice of single malt whiskeys and bourbon. There are multiple screens in the sports bar showing just about every sporting event, and, on some nights, karaoke is featured. There are game consoles for the children. The menu is the usual pub fare featuring hamburgers, club sandwiches and pizzas. A full English break fast is served.
The Essence Restaurant in Kalamaki is a family owned establishment with a pleasant atmosphere and is often rated as one of the best restaurants in the area. The ingredients and wine are locally provided and dishes include beef cheeks, pork belly, chicken Waldorf, calamari, stuffed tomatoes, and lamb chops. Seafood dishes include salmon with wasabi, and octopus. Try the pineapple dessert and delicious Greek coffee.
Where to Stay
The Arkadia Hotel in Kypseli is a beautiful hotel in a peaceful, village setting. The front has a view of the sea and olive groves. Angelos and Maria and their two daughters are the owners who provide large accommodations that are ideal for couples or large families, priced per room and not person. Due to it's slightly remote location, car is advisable. Try the barbecue and cheesecake.
The cozy Harmony Villas in Mouzaki, located near Laganas, is new and well equipped with elegant and sophisticated furnishings. The rooms are large with big kitchens and full bathrooms. It is a short walk to several pools open to the public. There is a supermarket across the street and transportation is available from the airport.
The Anastasia Beach Hotel in Bouka Laganas, Laganas, is family run on the beach in a quiet area but not too far from the bars and restaurants of the main strip. It is a short walk to the nightlife and supermarkets. There is a pleasant inner courtyard with trees and flowers and the pool area is beautiful with a lovely bar. Continental breakfast includes scrambled eggs, quiches, omelets, sausage, and hash brown.
