Zante is one of the most well known holiday destinations due to its sunny and warm weather. Zante enjoys an enormous amount of 300 hours sunshine each year.

The important characteristics of Zante are sun, sand, night life and of course the ocean.

Throughout January, Zante experiences average highs of around 14°C (57°C) and the minimum average temperatures drops down to 8°C (46°F).

In January, the Feast of St Basil is celebrated all over Greece. The festival is symbolic to a good start of the year. On this day the locals take part in traditional activity of cooking Vassilopita (Basil cake or New Year Cake) with a hidden ring in it and who ever finds the ring is blessed with good luck for the whole year

On January 6th, the locals also celebrate Epiphany day. During this festival, locals carry out a traditional and religious procession of blessing the waters. A cross is thrown in the ocean, river or lake which is then retrieved by swimmers. The swimmer who finds the cross is said to be blessed with good luck
