Weather Forecast
The United Kingdom is on the northwest coast of Europe and extends between 50 and 60 degrees north
Being an Island UK weather is very unpredictable and can change not just from day to day but also frequently during the day from sunny intervals to cloud and rain. However there are sometimes settled spells of weather in the UK in the Seasons.
The South is generally warmer than the North and the West is wetter then the East. As far as extreme weather, the UK rarely experiences this, there are no hurricanes or typhoons and Britain is not susceptible to any Earthquakes of Volcanic eruptions.
As the clocks go back and forward once a year in March and October, the UK has long summer days and short winter ones, in Scotland there can be up to 18 hours of daylight and twilight lasts all night during the summer.
The main extremes of weather in the UK occur in Scotland, Wales and northern England, over 2000feet in the mountains the weather is wet and cloudy for much of the year with annual rainfall reaching 1500mm and in some places as much as 5,000mm. Snow can occur in the winter but does not settle for very long, occasionally when there is a long cold spell, the snow will settle for a few weeks
There is some skiing in Scotland but this is not always reliable.
