Thassos is an island in Greece that is like a little pocket of paradise, near the coast of Thrace (northern Greece) and the coastal plain River of Nestos.

It is rich with soft sandy beaches, scenic views and historical locations. There are enough desirable destinations available on the island that tourism has become the main source of income for most of the locals.

In light of this holiday, many visitors choose to travel to Livadi (about 25km from Limenas, the capital of Thassos) to see the Monastery of the Archangel Michael. It was constructed in the 18th century and is beautifully located right on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea.

Visitors must wear certain attire to be allowed entrance to the Monastery; long pants for men and long skirts and tops that cover the shoulders for women.
