To celebrate it, locals observe the Dia de las Albombras, or Day of the Carpets. This is a day when they make intricate carpets made out of flowers and other natural materials in the streets. Once they are complete, the townspeople walk over them, essentially destroying them. Be sure to see them before they're walked on!

And on June 23rd, Tenerife celebrates the Fiestas de San Juan or Festival of St. John the Baptist. This festival, like its counterparts in mainland Spain, is celebrated with fireworks and bonfires.
