December Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

December may be the month that experiences the wettest weather in St Julians, but it is also the month that enjoys the most average daily sunshine hours throughout the year.

This means that, though the rain is likely to come on an average of 19 days throughout December, there is still plenty of sun and lots of nice weather.

Average temperatures during December in St Julians are usually around 14°C, which is comparable to peak spring or autumn temperatures back in the UK.

And while record highs of 25°C have been enjoyed during this month in 1985, peak daily temperatures are more likely to be around 17°C, which is still exceptional for this time of year.

On those warmer December days, there is only one place to be in St Julians, and that is in the sea. Average sea temperatures are at their highest during this month. And at 29°C everyone is going to want to take a dip.

Even when the rain does come, the 110mm of precipitation that are expected to fall, is more likely to arrive in short sharp bursts, rather than long periods of drizzle. Even if it is raining in the morning, by the afternoon the chances are the forecast will change.

And while day time temperatures are at their coolest during December, night times are still beautifully warm. Average lows of 11°C ensure the chances of frost are very slight during the festive month. Even in the coldest December on record the temperature only got as low as 0°C.

If you are looking for a cold, white winter, then St Julians in December is certainly not the place to come. But if you want to enjoy the luscious landscape created by plenty of precipitation and still enjoy an average of 10 hours of daily sun, this part of Malta offers the perfect get away.
