Split
experiences a classic Mediterranean climate; with warm sunshine throughout its
summer months and mild weather over the winter.
Split
is one of the sunniest Mediterranean destinations due to its extremely convenient
geographical position and typically enjoys an enjoyable and pleasing climate.
Split is renowned as one of Europe’s sunniest destinations. Naturally, the expected
climate in this part of Croatia
is very warm, principally throughout the summer months when temperatures
regularly exceed 30ºC. In comparison to many other European cities and although
much wetter; the winter months are also moderately warm. Winter time accredits too
much of the share of the country’s annual rainfall which stands at around 900
mm on average.
Vacations in Split
and sight seeing are renowned as an all year round activity as the region
features a magnificently mild climate throughout the majority of the year.
Summer being the most favourable time to visit sees average daily temperatures
climb into the mid thirties.
The winter in Split
is mild except when the cold northern wind called “bora” (nor-east wind) blows,
and it is recommended for both visitors and residents to stay inside and keep
warm. However, this condition doesn’t occur very often. Throughout a typical
year Split may
experience one month that is truly cold; with temperatures dropping to 4°C, which in comparison to most European or
Mediterranean cities is very minor.
The region of Spilt is a perfect place to start your travels
and explore the Central Dalmatia's beautiful shoreline.
However a vacation in Spilt offers much more than stunning views beaches, and
easy access to Croatia’s
most gorgeous isles; but also a fascinating old town. Croatia's
coastal Mediterranean climate boats a favourable summer climate and an ideal
time to discover and see the sights of Spilt, although the off peak season
months of May and September are a good alternative for pleasant weather and
fewer people.
Evenings are always a joy in Split, particularly throughout the summer
months. Many locals and holiday makers will spend their nights relaxing in one
of Splits most famous bars and enjoying a drink of the terraces of peaceful seaside
restaurants.
