Le Grand Bornand, 6 km from La Clusaz, installed its first ski lifts in 1953 and since then has grown steadily to become the second major ski area in the Les Aravis area, with St Jean de Sixt further along the same valley. Le Grand Bornand has two main ski areas - the main Le Grand Bornand Village and Chinallon, which is the more recent devlopment further round the same Le Lachat mountain (2100m).
