Situated 120 kms from Bucharest Sinaia was a built round a former late 19th Century royal hunting lodge, where skiing started around 1920. It is a small compact ski area best suited to beginners and early intermediates with 9 main lifts - 5 drag lifts, 2 chairs and 2 linked cable cars. The ski area is accessed via a two stage cable-car has the Hotel Alpin at its mid-station.

Accomodation & Après Ski
Apres ski is mainly confined to the hotel bars. There is usually dancing to live bands or a disco. The Hotel Montana's cellar bar offers grills and traditional gypsy music. The Hotel Alpin is cut off from the main village - up at the cable car's main station - at about 10km by road and is a traditional, charming old style hotel which is best for keen skiers who want to be right on the slopes. The Hotel Montana is a big, modern hotel at the centre of the village adjacent to the cable-car. It is the main part of a bigger complex, but has two restaurants, one self serve. There is usually dancing in the main restaurant and in the basement bar traditional folk music and dancing. There are a number of small shops in this complex including a couple of sports shops.
