small village, with limited shops and poor restaurants, although hotel was good and links to the piste was excellent. Skiing and snowboarding was fantastic with links to 3 other resorts easily accesible by the lifts

Recommended Places
I recommend that a visit to Villeuneve is a must to experience a much better apres ski and nightlife

Serre Chevalier is quite a good resort for intermediate skiers/boarders, there are quite a few blues and reds with not many blacks. There was a well maintained snowboard park with plenty of jumps and boxes&rails for beginners-advanced to have a go at.
The lifts can be a bit urgent and harsh on the backs of the legs, and there are a few flats bits but once you get to know where its not too much of an issue.
The Cretes drag lift can be amusing as it gets a crowd and you get a cheer if you fall off at the rather sudden start.

The first week in January when we went the snow was still good but was getting thin towards the end with no snow forecasted for the foreseable future. Might have been a bad year.

Restaurant wise there were quite a few around the centre which were nice, especially Le Panicaut and LOrigin. Up near the Fort on the Grand Gargouille, Le Passage and Auberge de la Paix do a nice fondue aux trois viandes.

Nightlife is tame to say the least but the Swedish-Danish bar Saloon at the Prorel gondola was ok, the best bar however was Le Central when Soirees Boeuf are playing and the locals in there were really friendly.

If I was to go back to Serre Chevalier it would be for Le Central bar only.
