Ski Resort Guide for Les Deux Alpes

Resort Guide for Les Deux Alpes, France
Resort Profile
The Southern Alps resort of Les Deux Alpes is a lively playground high in the Dauphine region which has spread itself out along the road as it snakes along the the base of a narrow north-south running valley. The newest part of the town, Le Village appears first as you approach from the north. Despite the pockets of different architectural styles - there is everything - and the growth of the resort it retains a strong, intimate village atmosphere. Skiing is from 1650m to 3600m so Les Deux Alpes combines a good record for snow, sunny slopes complemented by a sparkling apres ski scene. A good number of the gentle runs, as well as the intermediate terrain that is the staple diet in the area, lie above 2000metres and the glacier at 3200m is fairly flat, so it is a good snowsure bet for the less expareinced. The many lifts start along the valley on both sides, so mostly you should not be too far from a means of getting up the mountain to take advantage of the generally well linked lift system. Plenty of beginners lifts emanate from valley level, so there is lots of skiing for beginners close to the village.
