Averages for Santorini in November
Santorini in November still enjoys mild, pleasant weather just as the cold and wet weather is really taking hold in the UK. If you’re not ready to say goodbye to the summer yet then this is a great time to visit Santorini.
There’s still 8 hours of sunshine each day and temperatures reach a high of 19°C (66°F) and only fall to around 13°C (56°F) in the evenings. There’s a chance of experiencing some rain, with the average being 69mm in November, but this shouldn’t have much impact on your holiday.
On a particularly clear day you’ll be able to hit the beach, but if that’s not possible you can still stroll along the seafront and enjoy the beautiful view across the Caldera. For a unique way to experience the local scenery, you can even take a cable car ride from the city of Fira to the beach below.
In the city of Fira you should definitely visit the Archaeological Museum and Art Space Gallery, and you can also explore the historic site of Thera, just outside Kimari. Here you will find the ruins of a theatre, marketplace, temples and several beautiful examples of mosaic flooring. Akrotiri, on the south side of the island, features many exceptionally well-preserved buildings dating from as far back as the 16th century BC as the site was buried under volcanic ash around this time and preserved for thousands of years.
Though there’s less accommodation open during the winter months, you can still stay at the friendly Anemomilos Hotel. With an excellent location just off the central square in Fira, you can choose from self catering apartments and bungalows or hotel rooms and enjoy excellent Greek hospitality.
