Temperatures continue to drop in Riviera Maya, Mexico in December, when the average temperature is a pleasant 24°C, created by highs of up to 28°C and lows down to 21°C. Even though the resort experiences seven rainy days, there are eight hours of sunshine each day. The average sea temperature during November is a pleasant 27°C, making it an ideal month to enjoy a dip in the sea.
As December is in the dry season, the humidity is low, meaning the heat is dry and much less intense than the sweltering highs that can be experienced from May to October. As well as this, wet weather is rare and showers tend to be brief and clear quickly, giving you more time to spend on the beach.

Make the most of the fantastic weather by enjoying a round or two of golf at Playa Paraiso Golf Club in Playa Paraiso. Popular with experienced golfers, this golf club features an 18-hole par-72 beachfront course, as well as a driving range, putting greens, golf shop and club house.
Dolphin Discovery is one of the most popular attractions in Puerto Aventuras. A great day out that the whole family can enjoy, this park gives you the opportunity to swim and interact with dolphins in a number of programmes. As well as being able to swim with dolphins, you’ll also have the option of swimming with manatees. All programmes can be enjoyed by children and adults alike and include a hamburger or snack for lunch.

Hit the beach
With so many great beaches to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice during your holiday in Riviera Maya. The Yal-ku Lagoon in North Akumal is a great place to spend the day if you’re not too keen on sand. Made of solid limestone, this lagoon is protected from all waves, making it a great place to swim. It’s also a very popular snorkelling location, due to the number of tropical fish which live within it.
Stretching on for more than 540 feet, Ziggy Beach is one of the most popular bays in Riviera Maya. Here you can relax and soak up the sun on a comfy lounger next to gently swaying palm trees. If you’ve had enough of sunbathing, head to the sea for a swim or try out the selection of water sports. There is also a large beach bar available which serves a selection of food and drink throughout the day.

If you’re in the mood for Asian food, be sure to head to Asiana Restaurant in Playa del Carmen, where you’ll find a top selection of authentic dishes, such as curry, sushi and teppanyaki. The open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs as they prepare your food in front of your very eyes.
Also based in Playa del Carmen, La Portena is a great place to go to try some Argentinean cuisine. This low-cost eatery cooks every dish to order, so be prepared for a short wait before your food turns up.
